what are you willing to pay retail for?

I also pay retail for Apple products but I wait til they've been out a while and the price has dropped. They last so long. My Mac Book is at least 6 yrs old and going strong. I have 10 yr old iPods that still work.

I've never paid retail for Apple.... I buy from the refurbished section.....:thumbsup2 My fave item is a 10 year old Ipod nano (back when they were square) that I use every day...;)

When I need some new makeup (just found some stuff for summer use) I go to the Sephora store, and try stuff out...get a few samples to see if I like them.... I wear very little, but I like it to look good:thumbsup2 I bought 1 full price bare minerals powder (there it is, one thing at retail lol) and later, I ordered a couple more things from their qebsite, shopped thru my cc portal (lots of extra points) and got tons of free samples, and stuff on clearance for waiting, and ordering. So even buying higher end stuff, waiting and watching for sales usually works.... I too like Merrell,Keen,Birkenstock, teva, etc. for footwear... It's always on sale somewhere (heck, I have found it in great shape at my local goodwill!) My last pair of (MICKEY) Birkenstock sandals were 28.00 brand new from Sierra Trading Post (Need I say how much I LOVE these sandals?:rotfl:)

I pay retail for a lot of my racing stuff, except I try buy last years shoe model on sale. Face lotion I'll pay retail too, even though I still look for online promo codes. We only eat organic Amish raised chicken, so sometimes we have to pay retail for that (although we stock the freezer during sales).

We use ebates or cc points when possible.

Why would you have to cut corners to have quality bras and footware/sneakers? :confused3

I shop for those a lot at Belks/Macys - or similar stores - almost always have either coupons/sales or both and they both carry very high quality brands of both items. i agree with 'not skimping' as far as quality there - I do it too.

In fact, to be honest, just because I never pay full retail doesn't mean I skimp on 'anything'. I just enjoy planning and using sales/promotions/coupons to the fullest without being an extreme couponer - that is ridiculous and not much 'reality' to it IMO.

Yes, definitely not insinuating that anyone else is skimping, just saying that is one area I will pay full retail price.

I pay full price once a year for a Le Mystere bra at the bra specialty shop. I'm hard to fit and that brand fits me well. If that shop is going to fit me, I feel I owe it to a local business to support them by buying one. But then I buy the others online cheaper.

Yes, this is me! I shop at boutique bra stores for great brands. While they do have sales occasionally, I get fitted for that season's bras and usually end up paying full retail. Makes and models change yearly, and what fit me last year will not fit me this year. Macy's simply does not go down to the size band I need, nor as high in the letter of cup.

As for sneakers, I have arthritis in my knees. Could I buy sneakers for less that are great quality? Of course. I prefer, however, to go to Fleet Feet, get fitted based on my gait, how my prescription orthotics fit, and what holds my foot the best.

These are the things I gladly spend hundreds on. Without an ounce of guilt. But I will hunt far and wide through the Rescue Mission for high end jeans for 10 bucks. I will cut open the bottle of lotion to get EVERY DROP out. Everyone has their place to save, everyone has their place to pay full retail.

I bought this Macbook refurbished. It's old. Only thing I ever had to replace was the disc drive and Apple did it for free even though I had no warranty and I recently had to replace the hard drive. My iPods are refurbished, my phone is not

DD and I had a Sephora problem, we qualified as VIB status so you know you spent way too much. I love the mini perfume sets that have 10 scents to try then you pick out a full size of the one you like. DD uses her own money because I don't think a 15 yo needs Sephora. All the kids at school had the Naked Palette and she just had to have it. Luckily, my adult acne scripts take good care of my skin so I can cleanse and moisturize with Dove or Neutrogena.

I paid retail to go to Disney on Feb break twice. If we can stand the August heat, I will never pay full price again.

I feel like the reason I budget and shop carefully most of the time is so that I can buy things at full price if necessary.

Sure, I'd rather pay less for things, but if I *need* something and can't find a coupon or deal anywhere, I know that I've saved enough elsewhere to buy it.

For example, my son needed jeans for school recently (for a play, he hates them) and I couldn't find them on sale (without working harder than I wanted to anyway), so I paid full price at Target. They're probably the most expensive pair of pants he owns, lol.

Cat food and kitty litter. I have a couple of very picky eaters and I also only use the crystal cat litter. I try to stock up when their brand goes on sale on both items. But sometimes you run out and you've got to buy it anyway. :confused3

Their food still costs less than ours so what are you going to do.

I really don't mind paying full price. I'd rather buy less of what I really want at full price than things that don't fit the bill on sale. That said, I expect to pay full price for quality cosmetics (I never buy with gift because gift just turns into clutter), movie downloads, daughters shoes (inherited my extra wide feet), sports bras, good fitting jeans, and shoes on Zappos. Zappos are amazing, but not only they rarely have sales, they don't do ebates or upromise. I like Natori bras, and can usually find then on sale, but they are still expensive. Oh, and Louis Vuitton, though I have never bought anything from them, nor do I plan to.

Clinique face moisturizer...my one big splurge,,,$25-but it lasts a LONG time

Bought some today=lady in front of me was buying the Night cream-her big splurge-and it was $56!!! Lordy-her skin really didn't look that great:scratchin

It really depends and changes based off of other factors. I am willing to buy just about anything retail if I have to. I don't have space to store a bunch of extra junk just so I can stock up when something is on sale. If I need toilet paper, then I buy it. But unless I want it in the middle of the dining room, I don't have a spot to put 2-3 packs.

I also take into account how much my time costs. The other day I paid more for groceries at one store instead of doing my normal two stops because I NEEDED groceries, but I felt horrible. The money cost was less important then the cost of my time that day.

I'm going to go to Fleet Feet before our Disney trip and buy a pair of sneakers for the parks geared to me. Hopefully they won't be too expensive

Zevia soda. I love the stuff. I think the most I paid was like $1.75 for like an 8 oz bottle of the cherry cola. It was worth every penny! ;)

Yes, I agree my time never goes on sale! ::yes:: I am also unwilling to be aggravated, so I pay for the convenience. In fact, I am willing to pay premium for anything that has is fun, but does not result in accumulation of stuff. Cheap toy and expensive vacations is my motto! :rotfl:

Zappos has sales every single day: 6pm.com is their sale outlet. Merchandise that is not moving as quickly as they would like on Zappos is moved to 6pm and discounted there. They also offer extra sales sometimes in the wee hours of the morning.

I go outside my dental plan for my great dentist. my dental plan pays their rate and I have to make up the difference. He's worth every penny.

aaah Sephora....:thumbsup2 so far I have purchased at retail (this month) Bare Minerals powder, Becca anti shine primer, Stila waterproof paint pencil.... :cool1: and very very worth it..those items are large, and work better than anything I've yet tried for anti melt summer makeup:thumbsup2
