What are you traditions?

Do you have any? I was just thinking about this on another thread.

On arrival day, I almost always go to Via Nappoli as soon as I check in. My vacation doesn't really start until I sit down there. Before that although I am in the bubble, I still feel rushed and hussled and busseled.

I try to score Hoop Dee Doo for the early showing on my last day. Then I go back to the resort and leisurely pack my bags and chill so I can get up and leave early the next morning.

Do you have any?

Love this thread! Can't wait to see everyone's traditions.

This is super lame compared to others, but my dad is a huge fan of the meal plan. Before we do anything, he has to stop by Boardwalk Bakery and get his mugs. The world stops so George can make sure he has his mug, nearly identical to the eight million other mugs stuffed in his kitchen cabinet.

That said, what's nice about this is the early morning stroll on the Boardwalk and really "arriving" at the resort - feeling like we're finally home, and we can get started.

We've never had a trip without eating at Chef Mickey's. We used to try and eat there on our first day but now we just try and do it earlier in the trip. Via Napoli has become a must every trip as well too. Another tradition I can think of is we must get the kids picture every trip with the Totem Pole outside the Mercantile at The Wilderness Lodge.

I finally trashed my resort mugs. They are too small to be usable at home, and I had so many of them! In any case, I know what you mean about arriving at the resort. As I mentioned, my vacation doesn't really start until I get that Via Nappoli (although the last few trips I missed that).

Love this!

We are usually staying in the MK area, so our arrival night dinner is usually 1900 Park Fare, and we usually try to have dinners at California Grill (parents' choice) and Whispering Canyon Cafe (kids' choice). I usually try to get a Dole Whip at some point, but missed it on the last couple of trips.

When staying at Boardwalk - arrival lunch is Big River Grill for Brew Burgers with a table outside (weather permitting), soaking it all in. We're staying at Riviera in April, we get there early so we plan to hop on the Skyliner and have lunch.

We like to start out at Jock Lindseys Hangar Bar for drinks. Or, The BLT Top Of The World Lounge. The chocolate caramel cake is SO GOOD!!!

As for the parks, I really like to go to Mk first. it just sets the tone for my trip.

My daughter is 16 and she gets one of the small Minnie Mouse stuffed plush for every trip. She usually picks one that has something to go along with whatever we did that trip. She has quite a collection since we started going when she was 4.....

I always bring my DVC canvas bag that we got when we bought our point sin 2008. It has years worth of character autographs on it now :)

I love this thread idea too! We are coming up on only our 2nd stay as members so we don't have a ton of traditions yet as far as DVC/our home resort (CCV). Our first stay I unfortunately got the stomach flu so we couldn't explore the resort as much as I wanted but I definitely see snacks/drinks at Geyser Point being an arrival tradition! We usually fly in late one night after work and stay near the airport then transfer to Disney in the AM.

General WDW traditions are a photo with Mickey, watching HEA on the first night, and at least one Dole Whip!

We don our Magic Bands after the plane has parked and the seatbelt light is off but before our row has started walking down the aisle (deplaning?). From this point forward ... we are in Disney's hands.

Actually, I sometimes put mine on when I get out of my car at the airport and before I board the plane. It helps put me in the mood. :-)

Chef Mickeys on arrival day and must do Ohana, sci fi and 50s at some point in trip. Also seem to have a bad tradition of someone forgetting their magic band in the room every day!
