What are you serving for appetizers over the holidays?

MEXICAN FUDGE

2 c. shredded cheddar
2 c. shredded Monterey Jack
6 eggs
8 oz. taco sauce (green stuff)

Mix all cheese together. Spread 1/2 of the cheese mixture into the bottom of an ungreased 9 x 13 inch pan. Beat eggs, add the taco sauce to this, and stir again. Pour this egg mixture over the first layer of cheese. Then put the other 1/2 of the cheese on top of the egg mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 1/2 to 3/4 hour. Cool for 5 minutes and cut into square serving pieces.

So awesome. Serve on tortilla chips. I promise, this is the best.

I think this is it:

Sounds good 'n it's festive.

We've often done this one but cover it instead with red or green pepper jelly. Also use a cinnamon stick for the trunk instead of the green onion.

Can't wait to try some of these recipes!

My family always requests Sweet-n-Sour Kielbasa for every get-together:

1/2 bottle honey barbecue sauce (I found out the hard way, do NOT use cheap barbecue sauce. It leaves a layer of fat over the top, which I personally find gross. Better to use something a little more expensive/gourmet)
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 20-oz. can crushed pineapple (drained)
2-3 lbs. sliced kielbasa

Mix all ingredients together. Bake in 350 degree oven for 90 minutes or until bubbly (stir every once in a while).

I was going to make my old standby sauce for the S&S kielbasa which is a combination of lemon juice, brown sugar a tad of corn syrup and maybe a little corn starch but I have changed my mind! This looks delicious!

This is amazing - I get rave reviews for it every time I make it!

Cheese Bomb

1 round of pumpernickel (or sourdough) cut off top (save) and remove insides (save).
1 block of cream cheese
1 16oz. sour cream
1 8oz. block of cheddar cheese shredded.
1 can of artichoke hearts
1 stick of butter melted
2-8 cloves of chopped garlic (do you want to kiss someone or not, lol).

The night before cut open bread round and create a bowl out of it. Keep the top. Leave the bread bowl and top out overnight to stale. Cube up the inside and put inside an airtight baggie.

The next day:

Melt butter in saucepan and saute garlic.

In a mixing bowl mix sour cream, cream cheese, cheddar and artichokes with hand mixer. Add butter-garlic mix. Once mixed well pour into the stale bread bowl, replace the bread top, wrap in aluminum foil and place in a preheated 350 degree oven for 1 hour. Sometimes there is extra and I put that in a oven-safe small dish in the over alongside the bread bowl.

Remove from oven, remove foil, and place on serving tray (you can put lettuce leaves down if you want it to look pretty) with the cubed bread. I also put out breadsticks, and I buy additional bread to cube.

Place lil smokies in a dish along with pineapple chunks(drained). Sprinkle 3T brown sugar over top. Bake at 350 for 20 min. Use tooth picks for 1 smokie and 1 pineapple chunk. This is sooo easy and delicious. Didn't read all entries so if this is a duplicate then here it is again lol.:cool1:

We are changing things up this year. Christmas Eve we are getting together with family, and will have our big sit down Christmas meal. Christmas day will be just our family (DH, DD, DS and me) and anyone who wants to stop by. DH is going to make a gumbo, and I'll make some appetizers and sweet treats.

I always make an apache dip. The original recipes calls for bread bowl, but it is better when it's hot so sometimes I put it in a crockpot on low... just be careful not to burn.... so it will stay hot throughout the party.

8 oz cream cheese
8 oz sour cream
1 lb sliced ham chopped
1 bunch green onions chopped
1 small can green chilis
1 T worchestire (sp) sauce
16 oz cheddar cheese (I like it with the Mexican cheese blend or colby jack blend), plus a little extra for the top. (I like to add more cheese to the dip than the recipe calls for.)

Mix just until all ingredients are blended. Don't mix too much. Put dip in bread bowl, and bake covered at 350 for 1 hour. Cover with some more grated cheese, and bake uncovered for another 20 - 30 minutes until cheese is bubbly.

Serve with Frito scoops!

Our other fall back is an 8 oz block of cream cheese, pour pepper jelly over the cream cheese and serve with crackers. Simple, easy, and yummy!

We are doing this as well. I have to make a huge Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve for my MIL and her new hubby. So, I don't want to do it 2 days in a row.

We are doing some store bought stuff the kids like, but I hardly ever buy. Along with those I'll make some deviled eggs, clam dip, Chex mix, and Pioneer Woman's Holiday Bacon appetizers. Here's the link: http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2007/12/flashback_1981_-_holiday_bacon_appetizers/

These are my favorites! No skill involved, and they taste so good! I've made them sweet and savory, and I'll do the same this year!

Glynis or anyone that has made these, can you prep them ahead of time and bake later? I am trying to decide if the crackers will get soggy if I make these this morning and bake them tonight??

I think they would be ok. They get kind of limp when they bake, anyway. I don't think that would be bad.

CrAzy FetA

The saltiness of the Feta
The brightness of the lemon
The mellowness of the roasted garlic
The spiciness of the jalapeno

Try it, you won't regret it!

YUMMMMMM. We made this yesterday. Soooo good.

Thanks for the link!

You're welcome! I brought this into work (twice during the holiday season) and have never had so many ask for the recipe.

You should also check out this recipe, if you are a feta fan:

We'll have to do this one too! Although I can't imagine it being as good as the crazy feta, which is my new favorite appetizer! :lovestruc

We make one that we originally found at Whole Foods:

The tame feta dip is good for those who cannot handle the heat. I call them wimps, as the crazy feta is not that spicy (at least not to me, it just has a nice heat to it). And the feta dip looks like Christmas with the red, green and white ;)

The Mediterranean salsa has been added to my list, thanks!
