Okay guys, I just finished Mudbound based on recommendations from this thread and I plan to start The Help soon but I also like to read fluffy, light, girly books and I wanted to read one before I go onto The Help.

So what are you recommendations for books like these?

Do you like it? Do you mind not owning the book itself?
I also wonder about this. I share the books with my DD's, so I'm not sure The Kindle would be the right thing for me.

Try a Kristen Hannah book. They're light, fluffy & enjoyable to read. I read Firefly Lane by her & loved it so much that I bought another one. Have also read a Jennifer Weiner book on recommendations from this this thread & loved it. Got 2 more for Christmas! :cool1:

BTW - loved Mudbound & got The Help for Christmas also!

I really enjoy Carla Neggers books.

I am reading Vanishing Act by Fern Michaels. It is book 15 in the Sisterhood Series.

Wow, didn't realize they were up to #15, I read the first ones, then lost track of them.

DH also got me a cover for the Kindle so at times, I find myself holding it like I would a book. Using it with the 2 books I've read so far, I LOVE it! I have always bought my books. I end up just giving most of them away or selling them cheaply at yard sales. I love not having to worry about book clutter. I don't really go back and admire any books I have ever purchased, so Kindle works great for me. I would not recommend it for someone who is a book collector and displays them in a nice bookshelf. With Kindle, every book you buy stays with you everywhere you go. I might find myself rereading books now. I also would not recommend Kindle to anyone who is content using the library for their reading.

I absolutely love my Kindle 2. I've had it since Oct and it's become one of my favorite things :lovestruc I travel a lot and not having the weight of books in my suitcase is a big deal. Also we have a tiny library and only discount stores for books so having access to the latest book in a series on a release date is just wonderful :cool1:

I used to share books with my DM and would have bought her a Kindle for Xmas but she reads near water quite a bit and doesn't care much for technology... Maybe one day I'll get her to come around. There is no getting around only being able to share with other Kindle users or those that don't mind reading on the computer with the Kindle app...

Not who you were asking but I have to chime in and say I adore my Kindle!

ITA

DF purchased the K2 as a present so that I wouldn't bring more books into the house :lmao: I love my K2 :goodvibes

I'm reading SK's Under the Dome right now. I guess this will be the last hard copy book I read since I got myself a Kindle for Christmas.

Just brought John Irving's new book "Last Night in Twisted River". I plan to start it tomorrow.

i'm actually re-reading The Vampire Chronicles, the first 3 books. a new version just came out and it's the first 3 put together in one book. i'd forgotten most of it, i read them when i was a teenager and i don't think i appreciated them back then but now i keep going "HOW DID I FORGOT HOW GOOD THESE BOOKS WERE!?" lol

i also got The Hollow and The Lost Symbol for Christmas so those are next on my list, and i had gotten my DH I Am Legend a few years ago for Christmas and he told me i should read it so after those books maybe i'll give it a go lol

How much does it cost to download a book to your Kindle? I read a lot and usually get my books at the local thrift store for 50 cents.

I have paid from $7.00-9.99. There is a little selection of free things to read too. I have amazon rewarad points from one of my credit cards so right now I have about $75 of book titles I can spend it on.

I'm reading Chocolate Dipped Death by Sammi Carter. It's the first book I've read by this author, but I like cozy mysteries, and this one's really cute.

What would you recommend for a Stephen King newbie? I've never read one of his books, and I feel like I should!

Actually, if you go into the Kindle Books section and click on the Kindle Bestsellers link on the the left you can find several choices for free. These change sometimes too so check back. I have downloaded a ton of free books for mine from there and actually discovered come new "favorite authors" by doing so.

Carrie, is a good one. But I lean towards The Stand, I think it is the best book I have ever read.

I just finished Whistlin Dixie in a Nor'ester, which was a great read! Especially since I am a Southern girl myself.

I just started Dead Witch Walking it's the first in the Hollows Series about Supernatural Beings living out in the open with humans in Cincinnati.
