Just started The Dark Half by Stephen King. I'm only 2 chapters in and already hooked (and a little freaked out, LOL).
Finished his book, The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon this morning. What a great book. I went from wanting to yell at her ~ to rooting for her ~ to being really upset at times reading it.
It was sort of a hard one to read as a mom, but he managed to keep her tough enough that you still wanted to read.
I'm on a roll....three books in 2 days. I am now reading TWILIGHT. One word....WOW!!! And I'm only about 40 pages through the book too. Edward is just....WHOA!

I just finished Andre Agassi's book Open, best book I have read in a long time! I will not that I am a tennis fan, so reading it I was able to relate to everything. Aside from that I think the writing was very well done, so much so, I ordered another book by the same writer. I hope it is as good!
There must have been the price war going on when I preordered it. I am only about 50-60 pages into it. You know his books.....short chapters. It seems so far like his typical Alex Cross books, which I think is a good thing... Fast, a few graphic shocking moments, easy reading......
I just finished The Lovely Bones tonight, it was amazing. I started it on Saturday night and finished it today. Before that I read Along Came A Spider, it was good but not as good as I expected.

Out of all the books I have ever read I think the way Alice Sebold writes Susie is so great! Never have I been able to picture a character better in my mind than Susie.
The Lovely Bones is my lightweight travel and communting book, I'm currently also reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows... for the 5th time.
just finished Kabul Beauty School by Deborah Rodriguez. It's non-fiction. She is a hairdresser who ends up with a NGO in Kabul after the fall of the Taliban, and sets up a program teaching Afghan women to do hair and run their own business. It's unique because the men can't take it over, it gives the women a marketable skill to support themselves. The author definitely made some choices I went at, but overall it was interesting.
After I finished all the Sookie books I moved on to the Anita Blake books by Laurell K Hamilton. You might want to try them if you want to stay on the sexy vampire theme
Push by Sapphire. This is the book that the movie Precious is based on. It is intense and gripping. It is written in the viewpoint of Precious, the narrator so it is written in that tone and vernacular-- so don't be suprised.
It is very difficult to write an entire book in tone and vernacular so I'm impressed with the craft involved.

Thanks for the recommendation - I really do need something to read right now that kind of stays in-line with the Sookie series! I enjoyed the books immensely. I listened to the audio books and the woman who read them really brought the stories to life.
Now I'm listening to the audiobook of "Under the Dome." I've always been a huge Stephen King fan (actually got to meet him once - that was awesome!) and was looking forward to it. But the book is just so different from the Sookie series that I'm having adjustment issues.
