I am reading Fire by Kristin Cashore. It is a prequel to Graceling. So far it is really good but I love her style.

I didn't like Graceling so much.

Just finished reading Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr...LOVED IT!

Also recently read Blue Blood...it was pretty good.

Anyone ever start up a book club or swap among friends in your area? Would love to get something like that started up near me so I would have someone to talk about the books I read with, just not sure how to get it all started.

I just finished Fierce People by Dirk Wittenborn and Meeting Luciano by Anna Esaki-Smith.

Now I'm starting Goodnight Nobody by Jennifer Weiner

I am currently reading New Moon and I have to say, I don't like it half as much as Twillight......Is this the norm? Did you guys like it as much as the first one?

I am 1/2 way through the book.....Am I expecting too much?

Which in the series is your fav book?

Maybe I am just too tired with our flooded basement to really appreciate it.
I second the thoughts about New Moon. IMO, it's the weakest of the 4 books. Wait until you get to Eclipse! It is every bit as good, if not better, than Twilight.

IMO, it's a lack of Edward thing in New Moon that makes it less interesting.

I have 2 book clubs with whom I'll meet this week. Both of them are through my local libraries' branch. Tonight's is my normal bc. We will review While My Sister Sleeps by Barbara Delinsky. Wednesday night, I'll be joining the group of older women who usually meet. We'll be reviewing the big read for our county, The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien.

Of the two club selections, I liked The Things They Carried more. It was a lot of stories about Vietnam.

So, my advice to you is to check out your local library to see if they already have a book club you can join. We always welcome new members to ours. It beats not forming a club because none of your friends like to read as much as you do.

I joined a bookclub in my area through meetup.com. Its a really neat service. I wasn't able to do out library bookclub b/c they meet at noon, so this was a nice alternative. I actually found out about the bookclub through craigslist. If you wanted to start one cragislist and facebook are good places to recruit.

I work at my local library. :) Looking for something a little less formal (for lack of better word.) And most of the books they read do not interest me as much.

I belong to goodreads.com. Some of my favorite authors actually belong and it is a great place to go find new books to read because of the reviews that people post. I really enjoy the site and I recommend them highly.

We're heading up to Borders today and I want to start a new series. I'm thinking maybe Peter and the Starcatchers ~ have any of you read this/have an opinion? Thanks! :)

I really quite enjoy this series. I'll be getting the next book for Christmas. It's a fun look at the beginning of Peter Pan.

I liked Twilight the best, and felt that the rest of the series went downhill from there.

I second goodreads.com! I love it, and my tween age daughter has also found several books she loves there.

Over the weekend I finished "Love Walked In" by Marisa de los Santos. I liked it quite a bit, but I'm not too sure how much my book club will find to discuss. I liked the characters, and am happy that I read it.

I also read "Wings" by Aprilynne Pike. This was a really cute YA fairy tale. I would definitely recommend it to my daughter and her friends.

Next up is "Big Stone Gap." Then I'll get to pick up "The Idiot Girls Action Adventure Club."

Just started "Sandcastles" by Luanne Rice.

I'm still raving to my friends about "Mudbound" what a powerful read that will take me a long time to forget.

At the moment I am rereading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows :)

That one is my absolute favorite of the HP series.

Right now I am re-reading the Twilight series and I’m half way through Twilight. I plan to re-finish the series by the time the New Moon movie comes out next month.

Just finished "The Presence" by Heather Graham. Quick read, I admit I didn't figure out the killer till it was revealed!

I am reading Andrew Gross' The Dark Tide. It is fantastic. When I sit down to read it, I get lost in it and when I finally resurface to reality, I've taken in about 100 pages.

On another note, speaking of book clubs, I attended the "big reads" book club meeting on Wednesday night. The book being discussed was The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien.

As the group was assembling, I realized that I was the baby of the group. At 43, I was half the age of many of those assembled. It was amazing to hear the comments from these older women. None of them liked the book. They said this Vietnam historical fiction was too intense for them and they could only read it in small doses. I devoured the book in 2 days. The librarian discussion leader said that she's found this to be true of those who served in Vietnam and younger.

It wasn't until a man who had served during Vietnam showed up that I was the only person who enjoyed the book. Yes, it was dark. Yes, it dealt with stories that were hard to read. I think I enjoyed it because I've always wanted to take a class on this subject but I never had the opportunity to do that. It is educating me on a war/conflict of which I have no first hand recollection.

I found it interesting to see, first hand, how age and experiences influence our reading enjoyment.

I did find out that the author is going to be in town this coming Thursday. I plan to attend one of his lectures. I think hearing why he chose to write this as fiction instead of non-fiction should be interesting and I want to know why he set up one of the scenes in the book having a daughter when IRL, he has 2 sons and no daughter. Plus, I can get my book signed. ;)

I just finished "Have a Little Faith" by Mitch Albom. I am never disappointed with a Mitch Albom book, and this was no exception. I'm now reading "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak. It's a bit strange, but a good read.

I just finished New Moon, it was good but not great. I will read the whole series though as I have it all.

I just started the Stephanie Plum series and I am on book one. (One for the Money) It seems good so far. I only bought the first 3 in the series. I am going to bring #2 and #3 with me to Florida next month if I end up liking this one.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I would never have found this series if it were not for this thread.:)

My favorite of the Stephanie Plum books was number 4. I laughed so hard I cried during parts of it.

I will keep that in mind as I read it.

Thanks

Are they all worth reading or are the newest one not as good as the older ones?
