So new book is Memoirs of a Geisha.

I havent seen the film so im lookin forward to this....:)

LOVED this book - the movie is very good, and true to the book, but of course the book has so many more details to enrich the story.

I tried to start The Story of Edgar Sawtelle - am I the only person who couldn't get into this book? I even racked up a couple dollars worth of fines at the library trying to get past the first couple chapters. I normally read quickly and this one kept sitting around the house. I finally took pity on the next person on the waiting list and returned the stupid thing.

I just finished Pride and Prejudice for class. It was my first time reading it, and I loved it.

I need to find a few books for summer reading... I will definitely by re-reading Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince right before the movie comes out, and I will be spending some quality time with The Crucible as I plan for directing it in the fall though :)

I just read the new Harlan Coben, re read Stepenie Meyer's The Host, and am currently readin the new Randy Wayne White.

All are excellent! Harlan Coben writes the kind of mystery thriller you can't put down because you need to know what is going on.

I'm almost done with Murder with Peacocks by Donna Andrews.

"Labyrinth" by Kate Mosse. It's one of those Grail history mystery stories that melds the present and past. Not as high octane as DaVinci Code, but good!!!

Im still struggling with " We need to talk about Kevin ."

I dont want to give it up but its a toughy...

I know folks rave about it but if im struggling so much will i get anything out off it ?

Yes, it was hard to get into...something about the writing style was difficult. It was kind of "stream of consciousness." But I think it is worth it.

I am reading "The 19th Wife" and really enjoy it so far. Helping me get through the weeks without Big Love. :)

I was thinking I might get this book for the same reason? Is it as entertaining as BL?

It's a bit more serious. Gives you a historical look at the firsts. I find it all fascinating.

I'm reading "The Thirteenth Tale". I just started it.

I just started "On Gold Mountain" by Lisa See. It is truly amazing. It's the non-fiction story of her Chinese family. She's a great writer that can make non-fiction seem like fiction. The pages are just flying by!

This is a great one!

I am trying to read "The Prodigal Summer" for my book club but I can't get into it. I loved Kingsolver's early work but not so much her recent stuff.

I'm about to give up on it and read "The Alienist."

I LOVED that book! She has another out, I haven't read it yet, but my neighbor said it was pretty good.

This morning I started "The Pact" by Jodi Picoult...so far not into it at all.

THe ALienist is very good, I read it years ago.

Slam by Nick Hornby.

I generally love Nick Hornby. This one's pretty fun, too, but not quite as fun as A Long Way Down and High Fidelity.

The Rite by Matt Baglio--non-fiction account of a priest studying to be an exorcist in Rome.

The City & The City by China Mieville--an advance reader's copy. Awesome!

For the past two days it's been the manual for my new Mercedes ML. Good grief, Charlie Brown, when did cars become so sophisticated? Voice recognition for GPS, Sirius Radio and Bluetooth phone, built in DVD player in the front console, rear back up camera, sheesh, forget my Kindle for the next week or so, lol!
