I'm currently reading Tenth Circle also and liking it quite a bit which is different than my earlier experience with Piccoult. I had to read My Sister's Keeper for school (to grade summer reading a couple of years ago) and found it so boring I almost gagged.
But since Tenth Circle is coming to Lifetime next week I want to finish before I see it.
Once I get a chance later today I'll post the titles of the other books I've read recently - adventure, non-fiction stuff.
I just finished reading The Kid Who Climbed Everest by Bear Grylls. He's the guy who does all the Man vs. Wild shows where they drop him off somewhere to survive for a week. At the time he did this he was the youngest person to climb Mt. Everest but this isn't your typical mountaineering story since it also includes his earlier life where he broke his back and had to make some life changing decisions. I've read almost every book ever written about Everest and his was the first to describe some of the very real, nitty-gritty details that make the climb come to life for the average reader. This is definitely a book to give anyone you know who reads about adventure.
Another adventure book that takes the reader into another world is High Crimes by Michael Kodas. I have always had this tiny secret dream of flying to Nepal and trekking to see Ana Dablam, Everest base camp etc. Well, this book will cure any reader of that idea fast! It is a great account of two families who lost loved ones on mountains and what is really happening in the highest mountains today.
Sorry to sound like a book promotion here but I know there are other readers like me out there!
DH says I am the most eclectic reader he knows since I read everything from the books above to autobiographies to mysteries to science fiction to trashy beach stuff!
Just finished Sail by James Patterson. Really quick escapism read. Maybe a little too adventurous. I could buy the shark encounter but the snake attack was a bit over the top.
I picked up Jen Lancaster's Such A Pretty Fat at the bookstore yesterday and read it in one sitting last night. Hilarious and full of sarcasm, which is a perfect break from my biology class readings this summer.
I just finish reading Nicholas Spark's The Choice. It was a wonderful story up until part two. It was a good love story, but not up to par with The Notebook or A Walk to Remember.
I am reading Pride and Prejudice right now. I loved the movie and I am loving the book a lot more than I thought I would.
I would start with Interview with a Vampire, book 1 of the Vampire Chronicles. The first 3 are excellent, but after that the series goes off track, in my opinion.
Interview with a Vampire
Vampire Lestat
Queen of the Damned

this is one of my favorite books. i have read it at least twice.
i just started a book by the same lady that wrote water for elephants. i think it is called changing riders or something. so far so good. it follows riding lessons which was pretty good. i also just finished snow flower and the secret fan. WOW. that was a good book. sort of different for me but very good.
I enjoyed this book also - very different for me too. I did have a hard time, however, getting past the foot binding thing. I actually looked it up on line & it totally freaked & grossed me out.
