What Are You Reading Right Now?

I just finished "Their Eyes Were Watching God" by Zora Neale Hurston. It was ok, but not really the type of book that I enjoy. However, it was the book club choice for this month. I'm glad it will be done with after tomorrow night.

Next up is "Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas" by James Patterson. After that it's a toss up between "The Idiot Girl's Action Adventure Club" by Laurie Notaro and "Love Walked In" by Marisa de los Santos.

Last night I finished "The Reckoning" by Beverly Lewis the last book in the Heritage of Lancaster County series. I liked it but this was my least favorite series by Lewis.

Next up "The Secret Papers of Madame Olivetti" by Annie Vanderbilt.

Definitely start with the first one...Along came a Spider and read them in sequence.

My Fav was Mary, Mary......

I was not a big fan of Jack and Jill but it might be because I am Canadian and it's a bit political and based on politics a bit but it was not bad by any means.

My DH just called a few minutes ago and said he was pickinf up Cross Country for me....Yeah.

I am reading Turning Angel by Greg Iles, and I am really enjoying it! An awesome thriller about the murder of a high school girl which brings a lot of other things tumbling down on this little town... Really good!

I have enjoyed every Greg Iles novel I have ever read. His style is so exciting.

Turning Angel was an excellent book! Greg Iles is one of my favorite authors.

I am currently reading "Always Looking Up: The Adventures of an Incurable Optimist" by Michael J. Fox. So far it's a pretty good read. It helps put things in perspective.

Read a lot this week. Vanishing Acts by Fern Michaels, The Wedding Girl by Madeleine Wickham, where there's a Witch by Madelyn Alt, and Best Friend's Forever by Jennifer Weiner. Currently reading Dune Road by Jane Green. All this since last Wednesday.

If you haven't ever seen the movie Blood Diamond, watch it before you read Cross Country. I felt like the movie gave me a lot of imagry (sp?) that I used in reading the book.

I really liked Cross Country and can't wait for I, Alex Cross to come out in November. I'm #3 in the libraries' queue.

Thanks. I will try to watch it first. I have only seen bits and pieces of it.

I am trying to figure out what book to take on Vacation in November so I might wait on it till then cause I still have to read Cross and Double Cross.

Read Cross and Double Cross first. I didn't start the series in order, but with Roses Are Red. As I read through the books, you lose track of whom Alex is with and how many kids he has at what time if you don't read them in order.

I've been waiting for the next book on my list to come into the library. Until it does, I'm reading a book my father loaned to me. "Will in the World: How Shakespeare became Shakespeare." This is by Stephen Greenblatt. What a fascinating look at the unknown life of a great writer! It's all based on clues found in the plays, and makes for very interesting reading.

Next up is "Love Walked In" by Marisa de los Santos.

I'm almost finished with Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn. I'm finding it quite interesting.

I am reading Fire by Kristin Cashore. Wonderful author.

Just downloaded Shutter Island to my Kindle. I know, I'm behind, it's not new, but I've been reading all kinds of stuff by different authors. Figured I needed to read it before the film was released! Plus, Dennis Lehane can be a bit depressing (need I say Mystic River and Gone, Baby, Gone?) so I need a gloomy day to read it!

I finished reading, Dying Breath, by Wendi Corsi Staub. It was really suspenseful. It's part of a series. I read it out of order and somewhat knew the outcome, but I didn't know who was the perpetrator, what would happen or why. I couldn't put it down!

I randomly selected a book today. It's called, Nightwalkers, by PT Deutermann. I'm about 20 or so pages into it. I don't know if I can get into his style. His descriptions don't really flow. It almost seems like technical reading. I've had to re-read a few lines here and there because they are presented (IMO) like factoids, kind of dry, lifeless. I'm hoping he's just setting the stage and it gets better. For now, I'm hanging in there. :upsidedow

Currently reading The Dark Tide by Andrew Gross. I liked the books that he co-wrote with James Patterson and so far I'm equally impressed with his solo skills. The beginning of the book had a couple of minor similarities to 9/11 and had me in tears thinking about it but it's really more suspense now. :thumbsup2
