I haven't decided yet.

One of the best things we ever gave out was orange filled Devil Dogs. Big hit. :goodvibes Has anyone seen those around this year?

Other than that I like giving out a full size bar, like the old days. Or something otherwise "different".

But there are so many choices out there today. Tonight I saw a "Movie Pack" that had little boxes of Junior Mints, Dots, Caramel thingies and something else. It looked really good... but I didn't get it. (It was tempting, though, if for no other reason than leftovers, lol.)

I also saw some bags of salty type snacks but DH informed me another neighbor already gives those out. :confused3

So it's back to the drawing board.

What are you giving out this year?

full size Snickers, M&Ms, Milky Ways, 3 Musketeers, Skittles, Starbust.
The packs from Costco.

We went 23 years with no trick-or-treaters, so decided to go with full size bars. We had 60 last year, but there are more houses completed on the street this year, so hope for more.

We always give out full size candy bars. I have the chocolate assortment. They were only 2 for 88 cents at the grocery store.

 Wow!

We've had an influx of new kids in the neighborhood this past year now that I think of it.

I recently moved to a third floor apartment (6 flights of stairs to get up) so I am not sure how much candy to buy. Cant imagine too many ToT this year. We got little Twix bars and little bags of M&Ms.

We made up treat bags with one chocolate (various), one sweet (various), bubble gum & dum dum pop.

Mini-chocolates!

I do an assortment. This year we have Reece's PB cups (always have to have those), Blow Pops, an assortment bag that has some gummy worms, now and laters and some other stuff I don't remember, milk duds. I think that is all. We usually give each kid 3 or so things at a time.

We only get the 50 or so kids in our developement. They come the Saturday afternoon before halloween in one mass clump as part of a halloween parade. We have no street lights or sidewalks so they block the roads for the kids.

I usually try for something different. One year was boxes of Cracker Jacks, another year were bags of "old candy" (marshmallow ice cream cones, flying saucers, lipsticks or wax lips). Since it is all neighborhood kids, we can get away with even home made stuff.

This year is M&M'S Cookies Bite Size bags. We are not going to be home so wanted something I could easily leave on the porch and one of the parents or teens will open the boxes.

We are giving out full size Reese's. We only get a couple of trick or treaters so I get to eat all the leftovers :thumbsup2

We are giving out kit kat, skittles, reeses, nestle crunch, m and m's, fruit roll ups and snickers,

I take about 3 pieces and put them in a baggie.

Things I have learned in my neighborhood. Kids like skittles, dont give out pretzels and watch out for the teens. Dont do the honor system and leave the candy outside., It disappears. Dont have a "bowl" of candy, That disappears too if you let the kids pick something.

I might keep some pencils on hand.

We give out mini oreo bags and snack size bags of doritos and cheetos. For the neighborhood kiddos and friends we make halloween goody bags:)

We live on a high traffic and busy road, and rarely get trick-or-treaters.

We do decorate for Halloween and leave our lights on (plus the porch has orange Halloween lights), so I buy candy just in case a family will come to our door. :goodvibes

I bought Reese's and Kit Kats, candy we like and candy dd can eat with her braces, since we probably won't get any (or many) trick-or-treaters. I hope we will get at least one family!

I am going with full size candy bars this year. I bought an assortment of hershey, reese cups, m&m's, milky way and snickers. We live in an older neighborhood and dont get that many kids anymore, so hopefully I will not have too many leftovers that I would certainly be forced to eat.

 Wow!

::yes:: We went from a flourishing neighborhood of 200+ kids to the rural boonies with a 1/3 mile gravel drive......that stopped them all. Everyone car pooled kids over the developments.
Now we are in a new development, so hope for even more this year.
DH is so excited he is coming home from a business trip just for Halloween.....next year will see a lot for decorating from us too.

We are handing out two things per kid. A mini- play dough (bought in giant packs at Costco) with a coupon for a McDonald's treat taped to the jar. I spent about 3 hours one night watching tv and taping all the coupons onto the jars. Typically we get 100-150 kids. If I have any leftovers--I drop them off at our food pantry, I called already and they said they would add them to family bags---cause really I don't need play dough.

As much as possible I try not to hand out any candy. Some years I get good idea's other years not so much.

One of the most popular ideas we had was the giant penny bowl. We filled a giant popcorn sized bowl with pennies and let each kid take a handful. It sat on a stand on the porch. Then they had to check their pennies--specially marked pennies (with nail polish) got them an additional prize. It was sort of like a raffle. Since our yard is all decorated the kids tend to linger by our house. The first time we had some good toys left over from the previous Christmas. A couple kids got board games, a couple of dolls, a lego set, etc. It was such a hit we did it a couple of years in a row. It was hilarious when a male teenager drew the penny that was color coded for a polly pockets set---he basically threw it at the first little girl he saw.

Last year we handed out frisbees that I ordered online. They were full size and about 40 cents each.

We have a neighbor who works for Pepsi and gives all the kids a can of soda, a neighbor who is a dentist and gives toothbrushes, and the boy scout family (they have like 4 kids in scouts) that hands out a bag of boy scout microwave popcorn. I always like to know the other odd hand-outs on the block.

I live in a neighborhood that averages 350-400 kids. I understand why people bring their kids here. It is safe, the houses are relatively close together, well lit side walks. It is a lot of fun except for the people who refuse to park their cars and walk!!! They drive from house to house which is so unsafe. A few years back the police blocked the road and that really worked well. Not sure why they only did it one time. Anyway, enough of the rant...We are giving out Reese PB cups, snickers, kitkats, sour patch kids and swedish fish. I am fighting the urge to go out and buy more"just incase I don't have enough" I really don't want left overs in the house this year. I will be dressing up our dog again which is always a hit with the kids...luckily he doesn't mind;)
