I am a Nanny and I have brought gifts for the kids I watch, but I would also like to get a token gift for my boss too. I have been with the family for over 3 years and they are wonderful

I got my boss a nice bottle of wine this year. I bought him a bottle of Patron last year. If that is not for them. What about a night out at the movies, get them a gift card to go do that and watch the kids while they go.

Nothing. Most places where I have worked managers are prohibited from taking gifts of any kind from their employees, except upon retirement. It is considered unethical.

I am very peeved at my boss right now so she's gettin' nuttin'. :lmao:

A hug and a wish for a Merry Christmas!:goodvibes

She is great but I would feel weird giving her anything other than a token gift since she is my boss. If I found something that I knew that she would love, I would get it. I think maybe next year I will try to find her a game to play with her grandchildren, she would probably enjoy that.

A William Shakespeare action figure! :lmao: She's has a degree in English Lit and is always reading Shakespeare and I found that on Amazon, she'll love it! My one co-worker who has more than a dozen cats is getting the crazy cat lady action figure, and my very vocally Republican co-worker is getting an Obama bobblehead. Thankfully they all have a great sense of humor and will love these gifts.

A box of Fairytale brownies (http://www.brownies.com/). He mentioned going to a conference one year where these were a swag handout and how much he loved them. And the conference was something like 4 years ago, so he must have really loved them to remember them.

Last year it was a gift basket with different chocolates/cheeses/appetizer kinda stuff.

I figure anything consumable is good and if they don't like it, they can regift it!

We took up a collection and gave him cash. It's always the right size, and he likes cash :)

Don't have one LOL But when I did have a boss I don't remember ever buying them anything?

I get him the same thing every year (and he loves it): A bottle of Jack Daniel's and a super tacky Dollar Store singing tie. :woohoo:.... He's the best and he know it!!!!

:lmao: this year for xmas i will give my boss....
ill show up to work on time after the holidays LOL

My emplyees have gotten me things like...
homemade Christmas cookies
Starbuck's gift cards
candles
scarf
And the best was a mutual agreement to not write thank you notes!
All were appreciated!

in the past i worked for a large investment bank and i never bought my bosses anything...use to work for about 3

this year i am working for a lawyer, who is so so nice and generous and another lady works also w/me. I was unsure what to get, so i just baked some chocolate covered pretzels and brought that into the ofice. It was also my bosses b-day the other day, so i gave him a card with $5 worth of lottery tickets inside!

I will probably get him a nice bottle of wine. In the past I've gotten him other wine related items (openers, glasses - that kind of stuff) so this year he will get the wine to go with it :lmao:

I was a Nanny for a few families before my own were born. I gave the kids a gift and made cookies for the family.

Now I do like the movie passes with the offer to sit free that night but my bosses were very weathly and prefered more $$$ entertainment so never did that for them .

My boss is a big Steelers fan so I got a great deal on an authentic Polamalu Steeler Jersey. I would never spend that much but it was a deal I couldn't pass up. Last week on Jeans day she came in wearing a brand new Polamalu jersey and was so happy about it and told me she finally bought herself one. :(

So instead she is now getting a Cuisinart mini chopper. Not nearly as exciting.

A bag of coal....... Gave him a Mrs. Prindable's apple last week, not an acknowledgement, thank you, nothing and it is still sitting on his desk, probably spoiled by now..... everyone else in the office liked theirs and thanked me.

It is against Federal Law for me to give my boss anything. We got a big code of ethics law email and it forbids all of us to give our boss any gifts.

I did however, give my mentor a small token gift (small Yankee candle). If she or I have to declare a value it would be zero-- it was one when it was buy two, get two free. and hers was one of the free ones.
