What are you getting your 9 year old boy for Christmas?

My 9 year old has asked for:
Harry Potter Legos, The Burrow and the Quidditch Match(he has all the rest of them already)
Star Wars Lego-I think the Clone Turbo Tank
iPod
The Force Unleashed for the Wii
Epic Mickey for the Wii
2 different Nerf Guns
Goosebumps books
Disney Apples to Apples

On Christmas Eve the kids also get new PJs and a shared board game-this year it's Payday.

Don't have the lists for my 8 and 10 yo boys here, but last year, they got the Harry Potter version of Clue - and I have to say, we love it! It's not just a rebranded version (like Monopoly does), they actually changed the gameplay to make it more interesting.

Hadn't seen it mentioned yet, thought I'd add it to the list....

For all of you who have children wanting an ITouch, I highly recommend them. I am a 5th grade teacher and have a 10 and 12 y.o. If it is in your budget, they are wonderful! There are SO MANY educational apps you can use on them.

I wrote a grant, and my 5th grade classes have 25 IPod touches we use in the class on a daily basis. Before I had gone on a workshop on them, I thought all they were was an expensive music player- I was wrong!

Check them out-- they can be GREAT!

My kids(9 and 11) looooove to play on our iPhones and would love to have an iTouch..but I told them if they each get an iTouch they only get a couple of other things as they're $230....and they both said forget it we'll just keep using your phones.:sad2:;)

What apps do you use in class-I have a 5th grader-I assume it's something other than Scrabble, Angry Birds and Cut the Rope that she usually plays. LOL

I'd be interested in what those apps are too! I can put it with my sister's gift...

My 3rd grade son thanks you-he is totally into the presidents, so he loves the presidents app.:thumbsup2

Great thread! DS9 has never liked Legos, so I'm always looking for gift suggestions. He's a sports watcher---would rather watch ESPN than play the Wii....so "toys" for him are so hard to buy.

So far we have gotten:
Nerf Stampede Gun
Nerf Water Gun (like a Super Soaker)
Mario Kart
Wii Star Wars Game
Wii Star Wars Gun for game

He also asked for some of the big Lego Star Wars sets (At-At and the Clone Turbo Tank) so we are watching for sales on those.

DS9 wants legos, star wars stuff, Lego Harry Potter Wii game and ipod Nano (not the new small one, the "old" one) a scooter, roller skates, and pretty much the whole boys section of toys at Target...lol

I think he and DD11 maybe (MAY BE!!) get paper jamz too. I want to check them out a little more and see what the reviews are .

Maybe another snap circuits set..(huge hit last year and not something he had asked for!) some books and not sure what else yet.

DS is petitioning for an ipod touch but based on how often his DS was lost this last year, it's not happening for him. He really wants some new wii & DS games. He asked for Kirby's Epic Yarn for wii & Drawn to Life for DS.

He hasn't asked for this but I bought him the Harry Potter Lego game. I think he will really like it. He also wants the Snap Circuit car set and he will definitely get that. Highly recommend any of their sets, we have gotten lots of use from them! I almost bought him the Stratego board game at Target today but will wait to see. That was my fav as a kid! He will get some books & something science related.

Hmmm...I was thinking of some sort of board game...this would be great for DS! He's into military stuff, so I think he may like it! And I agree on the snap circuits...he got one last year based on a thread from here and he plays with it all the time...I'll have to check out the car one...thanks for the ideas!

:rotfl::rotfl:

House rule here, NO ONE TOUCHES MOMMA'S PHONE . ; )
They learned quickly it isn't a good thing to see Momma's head spin around. :rotfl:

Hmm...Is it weird that I am 27 and want pretty much all the same stuff that was mentioned for 9 year olds. :)

Thx for the info on that. I am a Harry Potter nut lately and rly have to buy this. Might pick it up this weekend.

As for what to get a 9 yr old. I am currently considering an Android tablet. I just have to do some research on them. They have a decent amount out for $99 to $199 ish. I was considering getting him a phone and loading some linkin park songs and all the HP movies on but I this may be a cheaper way to do this and achieve the same result.(Minus the phone that he may lose or go way over my minutes with)

Going to do some research on that and see if any can sideload a few games because I would rather get him into that then the ipod touch since its significantly priced and he wouldn't be able to buy apps anyway.

I am also thinking of getting him a Hoodie Buddie.(I think its called) Saw these about 3 weeks or so ago and srsly want to get some for everyone I know. Unfortunately we live in SW FL and I would have 0 use for them because of such reason but...They are Hoodies where the draw strings are ear buds. You can put ipod or phone whatever to hook it up seems to generally be in the pocket. I saw a cpl decent Disney ones too. Considering that for some family members and they are reasonably priced.

9 imo is a hard age(at least for my Nephew). On the cusp of being able to get some awesome stuff but not yet rly that responsible enough for that huge investment that can break or get lost from irresponsibly.

Anyway those are the two big things I am considering and if I think/find anymore Ill be sure to bring it up. :goodvibes

ipod touch,
halo Reach
legos,
a variety of other wii and 360 games are also on his list.
He has also asked for some of the "real construction" stuff. He's the most difficult to buy for-but he has actually given me a better list this year then previous years.

Lego sets, harry Potter and star wars
Xbox games
hex bug nano
Paper jams I think he wants the guitar one.

Legos
Transformers
Wii w/games
DS games
books
DS car charger for his stocking (the battery always dies in the car!)

My DS turned 10 a month ago and still believes. He wants

Ipod Touch
XBox 360 games
laptop
26 gear bike
cell phone
:lmao:

He always did Legos but says he is done with them. The problem with believing is that he thinks he will get it all since I am not footing the bill. Time to spill I think. LOL

Our school just had their Scholastic book fair so I picked up 2 books for DS10 for Christmas. The first is the Star Wars Clone Wars Character Encyclopedia and the other is the Lego Mini Figure Ultimate Sticker Collection. Both seem very cool - very colorful and fun!!

I got my DS9 and DS10 the Razor Riprider 360 from Target.com They tried one at a friends house this summer and LOVED it!!!

My ten year old still believes and even his older sister sort of does but we have dealt with the mentality that "your not buying it mom Santa is". Our solution was to explain to the children that there are so many children in the world that Santa needs help from mom's and dad's too. Therefore if they want tons of high ticket stuff they aren't likely to get it as mom and dad can't afford to supplement Santa that much :rotfl:. This is also how we explained it when our daughter wondered why we sponsored familys for Christmas.
