What are you doing on boxing day?

2nd attempt to fly to Seattle from Denver, after the 1st attempt on 12/22 got canceled when we were 80% of the way to the airport.

We are grateful it got canceled before we parked in a paid lot, checked bags, or got stuck in an airport somewhere. We were able to turn around and come home, and enjoy a strange Christmas.

If we do make it, we're having Christmas dinner, presents and the rest of the normal holidays activities with the paternal side of DH's family that graciously postponed their Christmas Day celebrations to wait for us.

I am working tonight so we are having Christmas dinner tomorrow night instead.

Nothing. Our Christmas will be January 2nd due to a covid exposure in the family. So I guess our Boxing Day will be January 3rd.

DH's daughter, her husband and the grandkids are coming, now that the weather has finally improved. We'll be having a feast. We only see them a few times a year so it's going to be a lovely day! :grouphug:
Well, change of plans here. I tested positive for Covid yesterday. Almost 3 years and 5 shots later, two lines finally caught up with me. :sad1: Very disappointing to have to call this much-anticipated gathering off.

Just catching up and straightening the house after 3 grandkids were here. And resting.

I tested positive for Covid yesterday.
:sad1:

My daughter texted this morning that, in spite of feeling fine yesterday and having minimal symptoms, she tested positive. She has had every shot available and this is her third time getting it.

I went to Target and got a few Christmas things for next year for half price. We are going to my dad/stepmoms house this afternoon to do our Christmas with them.

:( Sorry to hear. It's just so IMPOSSIBLE to understand. And not made any less confusing by the fact that I'm not very sick at all (despite now being hyper-aware of my physicality) but this same bug will kill someone else. 48 Covid deaths reported in Canada last week but there's no way to know how many active cases there are since nobody anywhere is tracking such things any longer.

As little as possible.

My family knows this as the one day a year that mom does next to nothing. They joke about it and make fun of me a little, but mostly respect it.

I do have to run to the office later today for an hour or so for something that came up yesterday but hopefully it isn’t more involved than I think it is.

My daughter also tested positive today. Good thing the folks who were supposed to come for dinner last night canceled, I guess. I just hope the rest of us don't get it; DH and I are supposed to fly to NOLA on Jan 4 to visit my sister.

@ronandannette @Breezy_Carol Hope neither of you are very sick and that you both feel better soon!

Well, if anyone has been following the news... we sooooo did not make it to Seattle today either, because we were flying Southwest. There will be no 3rd attempt. Thankfully, we did not check bags, and after an annoying 7 hours in the airport for a flight that was never, ever going to leave because they didn't have a full crew... we got back in our car and drove home. Unfortunately, so many people aren't as lucky.

So new Boxing Day plans, eating whatever crap we want, curling up and watching whatever football is on.

We are going to my brother's for what might be the final game night with our original group of friends. Our usual game of choice is Pit - an old family favorite! We go back to elementary school days - 40+ years of friendship. The mom to two of our group passed a couple of weeks ago. Their entire family (3 generations) had plans to move out of state, but then Mom was diagnosed with a brain tumor back in July so plans were put on hold. Sadly, now she has passed and they will all be leaving California very soon. I wish I was leaving California with them.

What I did:

my friend and I drove to the mall to walk, we did not shop
came home had some lunch and I started in on the "cleanup" yesterday's chaos was still present and I couldn't take another minute so I spent 2 hrs doing a small furniture move, taking some Xmas decor down and going down into the basement to put it away. This will go on all week now
dinner was leftovers and now I am here relaxing in my orderly living room for the evening
