What are you doing for Judgment Day?

There is a group of people (I will not post a link) that will have confirmed atheists come to your house and rescue any pets. It is only $135 for the first pet and $20 for each additional. They guarantee that it will be between 18 and 24 hours after Rapture, so make sure the pets are properly fed an watered. They do say that it will be done for up to ten years from the date you sign up. No refunds will be given.

I have a friend who is a Pagan who contacted them to be one of the rescuers and she was turned down because by not being an atheist there is still a possibility she could convert to Christianity.

Hmmmmm I'm Catholic, and we don't believe in the rapture. So I'll just continue working at my 911 dispatch job which, I assume, will be BUSY AS POOP AND WILL SUCK, if a lot of people go missing all of the sudden. Good thing they won't.
I like the whole thing about the rapture time happening depending on man-made time zones. That's a nice touch.

That's my favorite part. I sort of want to stay up until 2am NYC time when the first time zone, New Zealand, will hit 6pm Saturday night.

I don't know guys, I don't believe the world is going to end either (I believe that the Bible says we won't know the time nor hour, and that He will come like a thief in the night), but I also don't understand all the making fun of those that do.

I thought we as Americans were above making fun of people for their religious beliefs? :confused3 Religious persecution went out of style here about 270 years ago.

Nah, making fun of anything never goes out of style. Just ask me, I'm a shortie and short jokes still make me laugh!

I don't think we're making fun of anyone here. More just making fun of the idea that the rapture, this mythical event, could happen like, according to time zones, or on a random day in May. If the rapture does happen tomorrow, they'll have the last laugh, anyway.

I know Amy, and it's not so much this thread. I'm just hearing it everywhere, and am tempted to join in the fun, but everytime I do, I get an uncomfortable feeling. I don't believe in the Rapture, since I'm Catholic, but I wouldn't make fun of the beliefs of Muslims or Jews, so I can't bring myself to make fun of other Christians either. Maybe I'm being overly sensitive?

I make fun of all kinds of stuff, including religion. So many of them make it so easy. Besides, being laughed at isn't persecution. Being beheaded, tortured, denied rights, or outcast because of your religion is being persecuted.

Now, I'm off to find some Kool-Aid, Nike shoes, and a comet tail to ride.

You are correct. And while we are not to discuss religion or politics here, I figured this fit. There are a number of places this is stated, and I do wonder how any Bible believing Christian, believes any of these last day specluations. From Matthew 24:34-37:

"34 Truly I tell you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place. 35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. 36 "But about that day and hour no one knows, neither the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."

;)

Actually, this is a major source of discussion/giggles in our office, and I've done some reading up on this, including reading some of Mr Camping's publications...

So, in response to the "day and hour/thief in the night" thing, he says that was during the time of the churches, which he says ended sometime around 1988... but now that that era is over, some are given to know, so that they can lead everyone else to repent.

The approximately 200 million that would be raptured tomorrow are "it" among the living. The rest of us would not go to hell after the destruction, however, merely cease to exist AND all of this is predetermined... So, eat your cheesy fries, enjoy your day... even if you are a true believer, the odds are against you being in the 3% that makes the cut...

... but statistically speaking, those of us in the western timezones have a massive advantage... if people were to start disappearing by the millions in earlier timezones, by the time 6pm reached local time, a LOT of people might be believing who didn't that morning... ;)

We survived when skynet was supposed to go live so I decided to take a chance and plant my flower garden.

92 plants going in this weekend. Supposed to be 89 degrees and humid. Sounds like a fun time to me. :rotfl:

I think, assuming the world has NOT been destroyed by then, we should all be VERY proud of ourselves, come 2013... I mean, we'll still have poverty, sickness, pollution, trade imbalances, heartburn and reality TV, to name a few issues... BUT we will have survived Y2K, Judgement Day, AND the Mayan End-of-Days (Does anyone know is there a special name for that one yet?)

We should all get free T-Shirts!

So, apparently i'm NOT running a half marathon, because I have a suspected stress fracture in my left tibia. :scared1:

Need new plans, quickly! :)
Coincidence??? I think not!

I've seen where you can pay a pet sitting service to take care of yours and find them new homes when you go up tomorrow. Apparently the people running it feel safe that they won't be going.
They are atheists. :thumbsup2

So what kind of persecution is acceptable?

Telling people that believe in gay marriage and evolution that they will have 5 months or war, pestilence (first time I have ever typed this word, I think....pestilence doesnt come up alot. I digress.), plaque and death before they go to hell is acceptable?

Sorry....the hypocrisy is overwhelming.

As a gay man, a lot of the time, the Bible is used as a weapon of persecution by people who pick and choose what they want to believe from it.

Hi Kevin! :)

5 months of "plaque"! That's awesome:rotfl2: ! Would hell be full of people with bad breath, then???

I'm stealing this idea from twitter - I'm taking a bunch of old outfits and laying them out on the sidewalks in town to look like people have disappeared . . .
