Okay I have renewed my AP in hopes of getting another good summer rate. But do I go ahead and make ressies without the AP rate yet or do I wait. What are you doing? We want to stay at Cont but I don't want to make a ressie until I know I can get it at a discounted rate but with SOG being there I'm afraid they will run out of rooms fast. Any adivse would be appreciated!

Well, we have an AP and we just came back from a trip at the AKL Concierge were we paid $277 a night including tax. We booked a room only ressie at the YC Water View room with the come back rate offer for $207 a night not including tax. We are hoping that when the AP rates come out that we can get this price down to $179 a night plus tax. We got this rate back in 2000. So I would go ahead and book a room only ressie at whatever the best rate you are eligiable for right now and then when the AP rates come out you can always switch over to the AP rate.

When I do this will I have to cancel the first one or can they just change my ressies? If I have to cancel, will there be any kind of fee if I book through MK club? Thanks ahead of time!

Pluto,

I would reconmend you book you room only through CRO they only require a one night deposit and they have a five day cancellation policy. Right now I believe they have the AAA room only discount rate avaiable. This way when the AP rates come out if the resort you want is avaiable they can just switch it over. I have found that if I am staying at the same resort and the price is just going down then I keep the same reservation number if I am changing resorts then they cancel the first one transfer the deposit to the new one and I get a new confirmation slip.

If you book through MK club (This is now the Disney Club (DC) and all of these reservations are booked through Walt Disney Travel Company and they have very different rules on cancellations and changes that I am not fluant in. Maybe someone else who has experiance with them and give you some details but my advice is to avoid booking through them if at all possible.

Definately get your room on hold now, last year I could not get the CR for july/aug or oct. trip's at all cause we waited too long. :( This year I already have both trips covered and am holding on hoping for a good rate. Luckily our ap's change in september but we will have to get them for our december trip.

Now when the rates come out I just call the cro and let them know I have an ap and if it's availble they will change the rate. I plan if the CR is not availble for the summer we may choose to think about the BC, Poly, AKL, OKW, BCV, Wilderness Cabins or PO-RS. But for december we really want the location of CR for MVMCP.

Just keep your fingers crossed, and wish on pixie dust but keep something booked so you have your room locked in! :D

Does anyone know what percentage off the AP rate might be for the Grand Floridian in May? Should I book a room only and hope for the best?

If you're staying at the Contemporary with or without a discount, you might as well make your reservations now. If you're only staying there if you can get the AP rate, you can make reservations now, but it won't really help regarding getting a discount applied.

As far as using a DC discount, then waiting for the rates..That's what I have done. It's really no different than using CRO as far as applying codes. The only difference is that it has to be paid in full 21 days in advance and there's a $10 charge for cancellations or changes within 10 days of arrival, $100 within 5 days. The upside is that you only have to pay a $100 deposit instead of a full nights stay. Depending on the resort, that can be a huge difference! Plus, you have the added bonus of not having to pay for all those long distance phone calls!:D

Also, if you're using the DC discount, you might want to go ahead and book, they do have limited rooms with that discount as well.
