Hi all! Just back from WDW & noticed something being built at AK- looked like a blue railroad type of bridge? We could only see it in the distance- tons of tractors & other construction equip though? Anyone have any idea what its going to be?

I heard it was going to be a roller coaster... can't recall the theming though.

It's a ride themed on climbing Mount Everest, isn't it? The Rumors and News board has had some great links to photos, etc.

From the fall issue of Disney Magazine: "Expedition Everest, Legend of the Forbidden Mountain, opening in 2006 in the Asia section of Disney's Animal Kingdom". "It's a coaster-like thrill ride, but everything that happens to you happens within the context of the story". "The journey begins peacefully, rolling through thick bamboo forest, past thundering waterfalls, along shimmering glacier fields. But by the time visitors are done, they'll have raced through icy caverns, plunged down the side of the mountain, and come face-to-muzzle with the legendary yeti (the abominable snowman to us Himalyan neophytes".

Thanks for the link tcfdick. This si a new site for me and I really enjoyed it!princess:

Thanks for all the great info! I'm already in the planning stages for our next trip and I haven't even been back a week.

While on the train to Rafikis planet watch the conductor was telling us about this new land at AK. He said that the roller coaster was going to have the tallest point in all of Florida. Has to have those radar devices at top for planes. Sounds way cool to me.

I doubt it is going to be the highest point in Florida. The land fill in Pompano Beach is the tallest land mass in Florida. In the Orlando area the Skycoaster at Old Town is 300' tall. According to the press releases that Disney has said it is either going to be either 200' tall or 199' tall. Go figure 2 different PR and both are different.

The guide must have misspoke... The Everest coaster will be the tallest mountain/ride at WDW.. not in Florida.

I believe it was 200'-0". The TOT is 199'-0" so it does not have to have anti-collision lights for aircraft, They thought it would detract from the themeing.
