What are these?

Ever since Sat, we've had these annoying little bugs flying around, and I don't know what they are or how to get rid of them! They're not in swarms...usually follow food around, or are in the kitchen, or in the bathroom - 1 at a time. At first we thought fruit flies, so last night I put out a 'trap' as I read about here...vinegar, saran wrap, etc, but none in there. Now I just got another one, and it looks almost more mosquito like but I don't think they're mosquitos. They're like little supercharged fruit flies, but they are SO annoying! Not sure what started them..some possibilites....1) caramel apples (old) laying around 2) boxes in the mail with DDs gift came 3) DH fertilized the grass. And like I said, theres just one at a time. We get one, walk to the bathroom, theres one there. walk to the kitchen, another one. GRRR. Any ideas or suggestions?

If they are fruit flies (which are SO very annoying) get a glass jar, fill it with a 1/2 to a cup with apple cider vinegar, add 1-2 drops of dishwashing soap and cover the top of the jar with plastic wrap with holes poked in. The smell draws them inside but they can't get out. We had them really bad after a vacation and it helped in just a few days.

If it's not fruit flies then I have no idea but you do have my sympathies as those little buggers are so annoying!

Also, you can do the same thing with red wine - they love the stuff!

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I tried the regular vinegar, and it did nothing. I'll have to go to the store tomorrow and get the apple cider vinegar. They are SO annoying. One at a time, in the bathroom, or kitchen or wherever theres food. Thanks!
