My sister told me she thought that taxes in Europe are 60% of income. Does anyone know what they are?

Thanks Tigger

I'm not sure about the rest of Europe, but the top income tax rate (over £33,300) in the UK is 40% of income :)

They are very high in the Scandavian countries.. Of course there are benefits. For example, the goverement pays for a woman's maternity leave of up to a year in some countries...

So anyone (or family?) that makes over approx $70,000 US is taxed at 40% That's a pretty average income for a working couple in the US.
