What are the rules with pets at the Fort?

I see that you can bring pets, which is awesome. I imagine they need to be on leash, of course. What other rules apply? If you're going to the parks and you have an RV, are you allowed to just keep them in there (with a/c of course).

Hello - You are allowed to keep your pet in your RV. If you have a tent or pop up camper, then you are not allowed to leave your pet at the site unattended. The Fort has a kennel which will keep your pet during the day while you are at the parks. The fee per day is $15 and overnight is $18.

In addition, you must request a pet loop to keep your pet with you. There are several loops designated for pets. In each pet loop, you will find disposable bags to pick up any pet waste. There is also a pet play area where you can let your pet off the leash to play and run around. It is usually pretty nice for the pets as long as they get along with other animals.

There are some areas of the Fort that do not allow pets (Meadow Trading post area and Pioneer Hall), but you are allowed to walk them in most other areas on a leash.

The kennels are now run by Best Friends instead of Disney. You no longer have to come back and walk your dog, as the new company will do this for you. If, however, you do not have the shot records for you pet, then they will require you to come back and walk them.

Dont forget shot records, they dont always check at check in, but they are required, they always ask at Kennels.

During the upgrades loops will be changed from full to preffered and some from non pet to pet, so it would be hard for a CM not familar with the Fort and the refurb timeline to be able to tell you what loops will be what. As for the dog walking, that changed this year when Disney contracted out the managment of the kennels, the rate also went up I think.

I am coming 1st week of June so no upgrades will be started. iiam pretty sure that loops 300, 500, 700 are pet loops, but not sure which ones are preferred? I am thinking there might be more to, so that is why I am hoping one of you all know the answer of which preferred loops are pet loops. I don't want to be way back in the 1900 loops so I am thinking of calling and requesting a loop therefore I need to know what I have to choose from. At the same time we need a bigger site for a 40 ft RV so I am thinking if I rememebr the 700 loop is more spread out, but the noisy buses go by there constantly

I see the after refurb site info , but not which sites are pet preferred for now we will be there in 20 days. Maybe you could help me??

300 and 500 are for sure, as I was just there in April, but not sure about 700. I would recommend the 500 loop for a big coach. We've stayed in the 300 this year and the 500 last year, with our 38' coach, and found the 500 loop sites biggest. See the link in my signature.

THE INFORMATION BELOW IS HOW THE LOOPS CURRENTLY ARE BUT WILL BE GOING THROUGH CHANGES OVER THE COURSE OF THE YEAR. Refer to the upgrade schedule in this FAQ to determine if the loop you want will be affected/completed during your stay.

Loop 100 through 800 and Loop 1400 are Preferred Full Hookup Loops. They include electric, water, sewer, and cable (internet is available at an extra cost through a cable modem checked out from the front desk). Of these preferred loops, 300, 700, and 800 are Pet Loops.
Loop 900 through 1300 and Loop 1600 through 1900 are Regular Full Hookup Loops. They include electric, water, and sewer. Of these loops, 1600 through 1900 are Pet Loops

Loop 1500 and 2000 are partial hookup loops. They include electric and water.

There is no such thing as a preferred partial hookup. There is no such thing as a partial hookup pet loop.

Tents are allowed on any level of site, partial, full, preferred, but the full and preferred tend to have a smaller sand area and a larger driveway to accomodate RVs and campers.

Supposedly, only popups, tiny campers, and tents are allowed on partial loops, but I have seen all sizes of rigs on the partial loops. A large rig would not be happy on a partial for very long due to driveway size and no sewer.

It really seems like it. But, at least if there are rules, most people will follow them and things will be a little more organized (and clean!). I wish Disney/FW would uphold the rules a little more too - but I suppose it's hard with such a large area.

There are other animals out there that poop, in fact all animals poop, so what are you going to do about that? Ever change a diaper? Oops, I guess I not supposed to have my opinion, huh. You don't even have a clue about what your saying about me walking in poop. It just so happens that's what I do every day. You see I farm for a living and I work around animals everyday. In fact I have more animals than most people do. The problem is not the animals it's the INCONSIDERATE PEOPLE that own the animals. If you walk your pet in a non-pet loop at least pick up after it. Next time you label somebody you might want to find out the rest of the story.

Darn! I don't think Jugman can "flame" near as well as I can about the pet owners but he gets all the credit on this one!

Anywho...he is right. They do have rules about where pets are supposed to stay and be in the campground, but more often than not they are dragged around by their brilliant scientist owners wherever they please. I don't see anything wrong with having assigned pet loops. They do this for a reason. Not everyone takes their pets, likes pets or can be around pets. But, then again, Disney is not real good at enforcing the rules related to this. We pet haters (at least terri knows I'm not ) must continue to be at the mercy of the inconsiderate owners of these lovely animals. And yes, I too have heard "rumors" of no more pet/non-pet loops, not that it really matters.

If you want to be in a pet loop, just pick a loop and make it your own.

Wow. The way I read the original post, the person was interested in knowing the rules. I assume if someone is interested in what the rules are, they intend on following them. I don't think it warrants everyone venting on their own displeasure with pet owners.
