What are the pro/cons for deck 5 instead of deck 6.

I noticed cat. 6 on both deck 5 and 6. Should I request one over the other, if so, why?

Thanks,
Alice

Cat 6 - Deck 5

You are on the same floor as the child care services and Buena Vista Theater. Just one/two decks down to your Restaurants - and four decks up to the coffee bar/buffet.

IF you are aft, you can sit at Animator's Palate for your safety drill rather than stand on the deck.

Without a mid section of staterooms, aft is quieter. Same could probably be said for Forward, but we stay aft only when we cruise.

Lower the deck, less motion felt from the ship - and regardless of what people may say, there is always motion present and some (read ME) are more susceptible than others by it.

Personally - C6,D5 Aft is the best.

Happy trails,
Rae

We have room 5000 and I am excited to be on deck 5. I think deck 6 would be great too though....:D

I'm partial to 5622 - first room to the left after the Aft stairs/elevator and no neighbors on the left - hence, no smokers!!

I'm with Rae on this one, deck 5 aft rocks! We're booked back there for our 4th cruise in a year a a half and love it. we asked the kids if they wanted to go up to deck 6 and they said no way. We always have a category 6 for us and ann 11 for the kids right across the hallway. On our 1/3/04 cruise, we're in 5628 amd 5629, we figured we'd tried the opposite side of the ship from our June 2003 western to get a different perspective.

Rae, you have such good taste :teeth:
I am another Deck 5 aft fan, although I like it a bit farther back (5650). But we were in 5622 for our first 7-day Magic cruise, and we really enjoying the fact that there is only a neighbor on one side. The aft area is sooooo peaceful and quiet! And the deck 5 verandahs are closer to the water than 6, which is a big plus for someone like me who loves to be as close as possibe. Even though the kids clubs are on that deck, you would never know it as Disney has done a great job of separating the staterooms from the activity areas. It is such a convenient deck, and because there are less rooms, there is less foot traffic overall in the stateroom hallways. And of course this is also the deck where the famous secret porthole rooms are located.

Awww, Barb...I'm on deck 6 this time! I loved our Deck 5 room last time--hope this one's as good!

Thanks for your opinions:D we have reserved 5128 for 05/01/04.

rae519 - you sound like my DD 13 :D she refuses to go on the cruise with us (me and DD 16) because she doesn't want to be away from her babies, Sky Hope - horse, 3 dogs, 9 cats, 4 ducks and coming this spring 2 baby pygmie goats.

I am actually getting worse about the horses or should I say, "My Three Sons" - my inner child is getting giddy just thinking about them!!!

Back to Deck 5/Deck6 ---
One of the really great things is that you can go to Mid ship and look over the rail to see the activities in the atrium. Just a really nice thing to do.

Another Pro for some of the deck 5 aft cabins is that 5622-5624-5626-5627-5628-5629 (possibly 30 and 31 too but I can't remember if it went that far) all have brand new carpeting. They all flooded from a pipe break on 11/8/03.

The hallway also has new carpet back there. We watched the progress and everything is shiny and new.

When staying on deck 5 forward where are the safety drills held? Thank You!

Another Deck 5 fan here, and the 3rd person on this thread to have called 5622 my home for a week. We LOVED it! Although, Rae, wouldn't you know that with just one neighbor, I got a chain smoker! It seemed like every time I was on the verandah, out she'd come, puffing away. It was the only "bad" thing about the verandah. Bad being relative, of course.

My DD was not allowed to roam alone except to run down to the room for a quick errand (she was 8.5 yo) and one thing that was nice is that she really could not get lost with it being the very first room after the stairs.

Like Barb, I loved being close to the water. It was so peaceful out there, esp. very late at night or early in the am.

I'm jealous...only two horses here!
We did get a new cat a couple of months ago, tho', so we're up to three felines, plus the bird, a betta, and I ended up with a goldfish at work. The two older cats have learned exactly what the luggage means, but the baby doesn't know yet.
We're heading back to good old 5650 on Weds.!

Had to be before 11/8/03 - we were on the 10/25 cruise and had 5622 guaranteed but received a call a month prior to inform us that it would NOT be ready before our cruise and we were shipped up to Deck 7.

I did look at the room and yes, they were putting down new carpeting on 10/25.

If there was another flood on 11/8, then that is something else.

WHEW!

Yup, close to the water and not the motion of the upper decks - I really like that!!!!

AND FOR INCOGNITO - I am wealthy in manure, that's for sure!!!

We were on deck 5 in Oct and loved the location but the room left a bit to be desired. We did love the location though. Near the kids club and not having hundreds of people around was great for us. It seemed more secluded and private.

We had room 5000 that was directly above the Walt Disney Theatre and the bass made the lights rattle and floor vibrate. If you don't have young children and won't be in the room during show times it shouldn't be of any concern. It also happened during the practice performances also (they apparently do these at full volume) and those were at 7am and 11am on 2 different days. There is also a very busy crew door about 10ft from the cabin door. This was not the orgional room we were assigned. we were upgraded from a 9 to an 8. We did complain to see if they could lower the volume and bass because we could make out every word of the performances but as it was this was not possible. Our cruise was very full so moving was also not an option and not really something I wanted to do after unpacking myself, DH and 2 DD's.

We were on 7 for our first cruise but we prefer 5 and have booked our next cruise in room 5520. Hopefully far enough away from the theatre.:)

IT doesn't sound like 5000 is a good room for those who like it quiet, ehhh? Again, poor design plan - maybe in the third ship (if that is ever to be), they will consider our remarks.

I think the worst design flaw is having the basketball court above the Spa - bang! bang! bang!!!

We were just got off of the Wonder last week. We stayed in 5630 and I loved the location. We have stayed on deck 6 inside stateroom and deck 7 outside verandah on previous cruises. 5630 was by far the best stateroom we have had. All the noise that we heard were the other passengers walking the hallway.
