What are the possibilities of getting a Cabana?

Shoreside concierge are the people who do the requests for concierge bookings - they work on land as opposed to the ships, hence "shoreside".

If you are in a concierge cabin you will be contacted by them in advance of your 120 day booking window.

If you're like the rest of us commoners, you won't. :flower1:

I too, am a commoner! I guess when my booking window opens, I will be in stalker mode too! :surfweb:

There is also a 7.5% Bahamian VAT tax added to those prices listed in the brochure.

Our window to book excursions and get PAT was 10/13/16. We are silver castaway members, our 5th cruise. There was 5 cabanas still available at booking time, logged in at 1100 central. The next day there was still 3 available. You may have a better chance than you think.

We got a cabana for our cruise last December as Silvers. A Platinum friend on our cruise group page told me what was still available on my booking evening, and when I logged on I had my choice of two SB Cabanas and three family ones.

Just an FYI idk if it is every cruise but we rented the bikes and asked how they would possibly know we only had them for 1 hour since we didn't do anything but sign the waiver. They said doesn't matter for cabana which was weird since it says only 1 hour.

What is included in a Cabana rental?

Cabana:
Bowl of potato chips, energy bars, fresh fruit
Stocked fridge with cold drinks and water
Electric wall plugs (for example, plug in to recharge your electronics)
Suntan lotion
Private hammock
Personal float tubes
Snorkeling equipment rental
Bike rental included
Nearby shower (right outside)
Magazines
Facial tissue
Trashcan
Hanging closet
Cocktail table, sofa, two chairs inside
Call button for attendant
Overhead fan
Privacy curtains over windows
Plates
Private beach in family cabanas
There is a safe in them, just as in your onboard cabin.
You can eat lunch there (table and chairs). Your host might give you a ride to/from the buffet.
There is a changing curtain for get into/out of swimwear
A drink host will come and take your order for alcoholic drinks and bring them to you.
They provide a plate of cold, wet towels. Great for cleaning/cooling off.
Lot of chairs inside and out (on the porch) for relaxing
Once at the end of the day, our host took us from our cabana to the ship's reboarding point in his golfcart. Wow!

Thanks so much for your replies everyone. I'm in touch with others on our cruise and it's being reported that all cabanas have already been secured for our upcoming Feb cruise. Oh well, once I can begin booking on Nov 13th I'll keep an eye out for a cancellation.

Another suggestion...if you are part of an online cruise group, post that you are interested if anyone would like to share a cabana. We have shared with people we didn't know at all prior to our cruise, in order to spread the cost out a bit. It has worked very well.

This is a great idea! I'm going to try this next trip. I have sailed concierge in the past and got the cabana. I LOVED it. I won't do concierge with kids again on DCL due to cost so your suggestion may be my best bet.

To the OP, check to see what is available concierge-wise. If there are lot of unsold concierge rooms your chances are much better. A cabana probably averages only 5% of the cost of a person's trip (in concierge) so for a "small" amount of money people take them (relative to the cost of the trip). Also when I had one last time the concierge, Glen, said there were 5 empty the sailing before so you never know. There were also a lot less concierge guests on that sailing. Gen did tell me that there was talk of building behind some of the current ones (on pylons) but I don't know that it ever advanced beyond thinking about it.

I was on the diverted 10/7 Magic sailing that went to Canada. When at the shore excursions desk I asked the lady to rent me a cabana. She had an unsure look on her face and I said I know we're not going to CC but I just need to know I scored a cabana (even if I don't use it, haha). She laughed knowing how badly people want them.

Like this one? Or?? This is a great idea!

Thanks for the suggestion to check availability of concierge during our sailing @PoopDeckPappy. We are still 3 1/2 months out and concierge is no longer available. Also, people in our group are already reporting (since I started this thread) that the cabanas for our sailing are fully booked. Oh well, maybe another time.

You should keep checking at random times to see if one comes available.

Often there are people who book a cabana "just in case", and, as the time nears that they are actually going to be charged for it, they cancel. As well as others who may cancel the cruise entirely, so any reservations they made for any excursion/spa/cabanas open up.

And check once onboard if there's a wait list.

Don't give up hope.
