Are they worth the extra $$? Are they really any closer to the lobby and food court? Should I get the prefered room or is there a better section to be in?

Thanks
Debbie

I believe the preferred rooms are in the 60's bldgs...there are two of them. I stayed in one of the three 50's bldgs and was quite happy. I didn't think my walk was too much longer than if I had been in one of the 60's rooms. IMO each bldg area has it's own charm and good points. It's all personal pref.

Personally I wouldn't pay the extra 10 a night. The walk isn't far at all. We stayed in 50's bldg 2 which is the farthest away on the one side of the food court. It was a nice quick walk plus it was quieter being away from the main noise area.

I agree that it's not worth the extra $$. We were in the 70s section and were actually closer to Everything Pop and the bus stops than some of the rooms in the 60s. In a value resort, I think that's the only thing you're paying extra for. If you're dead set on being right beside the Hippie Dippy pool then go for it, otherwise, save your money :)

The 50's and 70's buildings are farily close to the main building as well. I figure the 60's right across from the main building so it is given the higher status.

I agree with the 70's section! It is great!!!! We were in the bIg Wheel building and were so close to everything!

POP VETERANS HELP!

DH, DD7 and I will be at POP 12/15 - 12/23.

We would like to have a room:

1. On the top floor in order to avoid above head noise
2. Lake view, not pool view
3. Non smoking
4. Ability to see illuminations at night? (heard you could)
5. Quietest building possible (heard 50's was good)

Any suggestions on room numbers? I am looking at the map from this site, but I cannot read the room number range. Plus, I do not know what side of the resort the lake is (north, south, east, west). I was thinking 50's building B/C.

I think to see the illiuinations you need building a or b

but to see the lake b or c.

I would go with C toward the lake - just ask for that.

most of the complaints on noise come from people staying in the 60's.

now the toilet when it is flushing is loud and just about the entire building can heard it.

but I have never heard people in the next room when they were in their room.
now when they were walking down the halls - definitely.
so don't get a first floor room.

there are elevators here.

Thanks for your advise. I tend to be a light sleeper so I want something as far away as possible and as far up as possible.

We paid extra for the preferred building (60's). It definately isn't worth it. We would much prefer one of the standard buildings.

am a light sleeper, also.
try using earplugs, if possible. I know DH doesn't like to go that way, unless absolutely necessary(new neighbor has howling Bassett! )
I use the spongey sort. there are a few different types, but spongey ones are my preferred. do check out the decibel level ratings, it does differ from brand to brand. Up here I find them in the health & beauty section of Target or at CVS.
As for noise, many recommend the white noise machines, also.
we will arrive at POP well after midnight the Saturday after Thanksgiving, so know our room will be out of the way--which is super for us!

Have a terrific trip!

Jean
