What are the options for a family of 6?

We just returned from a 3 night stay at RPR, but it was only me and my 3 older kids. We absolutely LOVED it and are completely sold on Universal now.
Are there any on-property options for a family of 6 (other than booking 2 rooms)? We saw a couple of "named" suites in the hall of RPR. Could any of these hold 6 people?

No. There are no options for a family of 6 other than two rooms.

You could get a one bedroom (with 2 queen beds) suite at PBH. The main suite room would need to have a fold-out couch. Technically, it's two rooms, with 4 people sleeping in the bedroom and 2 on the fold-out couch in the main room. I believe that the cost is comparable to getting 2 seperate rooms at the PBH.

At the last minute, my sister and her husband had to back out because their son got sick with the flu, which was misdiagnosed as the bird flu. For that reservation, we would receive 2 email notifications: one for the suite room, and the other for the bedroom.

Maybe your thinking of a one-bedroom suite that has 1 king bed instead of 2 queen beds in the bedroom.

No, I'm thinking of the two queen portofino suite. We've stayed in it many times. You're the first to say that you were allowed to have 6 in the ten years I've been on this forum. Fire regulations are for 5, so I'm not sure what would have happened when you went to check in.

King suite at RPR has one King bed and one pullout so you would think it would be for 4 people but they only allow 3 - if you try to book a room with 2 adults and 2 kids, the king suite will not come up. For some reason, the Orlando fire regulations don't count the parlor as a sleeping place. Deluxe rooms at HRH have two queens and a full pullout and only allow 5 per room as well.

If you go on their website, you cannot put in 6 people into the reservations box. No matter how you configure it, it always come up with a max of 5.

But you can't book a Portofino Suite on the website. Those can only be booked by calling. When I initially booked it, it was at an AAA rate. A month later, I called to change to rate to the Stay and Save rate. Both times I verified that it was a 1-bedroom suite with 2 queen beds and would accomodate 6 people.

I think I figured it out: I'm special!

The website does indicate a max five for a Portofino Suite:

1 Bedroom Portofino Suite - up to 5 guests* (bedding for 5th person would require a rollaway rental or use of the sleeper sofa)

1 Bedroom Villa Suite - up to 5 guests* (bedding for 5th person would require a rollaway rental or use of the sleeper sofa)

1 Bedroom Hospitality Suite - up to 5 or 7 guests, depending on booked connecting room

* Maximum occupancies may require a rollaway at $25 per day. Only one rollaway is allowed per room. King Rooms have bedding for 2, requires rollaway for 3. Double Queen have bedding for 4, requires rollaway for 5. Available on a first come first serve basis. Additional charges apply for more than 2 adults guests per room.

Ya, you're right you can't book a suite onsite at the PBH, but you can book a King Suite at RPR and it won't let you put 4 people in there. I think if you were allowed to book a room with 6 people in it, they would let you do it on the Portofino or HRH websites.

Anyways, the whole point is....if you've got 6 people, you need two rooms at any of the onsite hotels.

In the portofino suites there are two doors and TWO BATHROOMS!!! However, they don't book just the parlor so maybe that is why it isn't considered to be a "room".

We received 2 confirmation emails for our reservation: 1 for the parlor room only and 1 for the standard room (bedroom).

Yes. They always do it that way but you can't just book the parlor on its own.
