What are the 'not to miss' restaurants and snacks?

If they have them, pork rice roll (TDS American waterfront and occasionally in TDL) and cream cheese filled pretzel (Toontown). Magellan's is good and we enjoyed dining in the secret wine cellar, but its not the fastest meal. I can never seem to get into the Blue Bayou. Last time I tried it was a two hour wait and there were people in front of me who were willing to wait it out!

Thank you everyone!

Great tip that I shouldn't get too attached to trying something as it's all change.

Magellan's seems to be a definite. Any advice on the best way to book? I've read on Disney Tourist Blog the only way to book is if you're staying at a Disney owned hotel and we're not.

Also, how much we should budget for food each day if we're mainly doing quick-service?

I vaguely recall reading that someone on these forums had luck booking online by using Google translate (and perhaps a VPN to disguise their location): https://reserve.tokyodisneyresort.jp/restaurant/search/?restaurantNameCd=RMGL0

Some people have booked by calling TDR on +81 45-330-5711 at the 30 days in advance mark.

Here is a good thread on the subject: https://www.disboards.com/threads/priority-seating-dining-questions.3619175/

TDR Explorer appear to have something of a guide: https://tdrexplorer.com/how-to-make-dinner-show-restaurant-reservations/

If all of those options fail, then you can make a reservation by getting in line outside of the restaurant and they'll take bookings for that day from 10am. In my experience, they normally have quite limited availability for same day bookings (i.e. sometimes you get lucky, but other times it may be fully booked).

Good luck!

In terms of food budget, I suspect everyone is very different. For example, we normally have two quick service meals and no snacks. I think each "set" is around the $15 to $20 (AUD) mark. If we have a larger meal, like the curry at the Hungry Bear restaurant, then maybe we'd just have a snack later on.

You do not need to use a VPN :)

I think it's important to clarify that you can book online one month in advance, not 30 days in advance. For example, 30 days from January 5th is February 4th, but bookings for February 4th actually open one day earlier, on January 4th. Magellan's usually doesn't fully book up right at the one month mark, though. That "honor" goes to S seating for Diamond Horseshoe & Polynesian Terrace.

Guests staying at TDR hotels can book at 9 AM & can book for each day of their stay. Everyone else can book at 10 AM.

You can also make online, day-of reservations starting at 9 AM.

Is it 10 am Tokyo time?

Quick service set meals with a drink are usually around 1000-1600 JPY. There's a couple quick service places like Plaza Pavilion and Cafe Portofino that are closer to 1800 to 1900 JPY for a meal. Portion sizes are smaller than the US so if you usually finish an entire meal in the US parks, expect to buy at least one extra 500 JPY snack.
