Shorts, sleeveless shirts, tennis shoes, rain poncho, sunscreen, a portable misting fan, bathing suit, and a lightweight sweater or jacket.
That should be your wardrobe pretty much-- you may want to switch the shorts out for capri pants and the sleeveless shirt out for a t-shirt depending on what you feel comfortable in.
Good luck and I'm sure more DISers will have advice for you.
Hi,
I just got back... it was wonderful! leaving in less than two months to go back!
Don't forget rain ponchos.. I would order water and have it shipped to your hotel.. can do that through costco or sam's club. I got two cases for three people staying a week and we used 75% of it. Cost me $15 for the two cases shipped, much better than $3 a bottle! Suncreen, cool comfortable clothes that dry quickly if they get wet. extra socks. Oh! one I didn't do, a mini first aid kit... DD got a few little scratches on her playing with DS in the pool and I got a little blister. DD actually brought her cheerleading first aid kit and it can in handy! I'll think of more and post again but these are things I was really happy I had with me!
Do not pack any black clothing. Black absorbs sun and will make you feel ten times hotter. Bring a sunhat--you will need it. An extra bathing suit wouldn't hurt either, sometimes they don't dry and there's nothing worse than trying to wriggle into a wet suit. If you're wearing sneakers, bring an extra pair--the first pair may get drenched.
Yeah last time we went me and my gf brought water and we went through almost a whole 24 pack... It's a great idea highly reccomended doing so... Very convient and a great way to battle dehydration... Don't be afraid to refil your water bottles at the park water foutains too.
I brought along a small bottle of hair conditioner. My hair takes a beating in the Florida humidity, sun and pool water. It really helped me having that along.
If you don't plan on doing a lot of laundry, pack extra bras! I know that sounds weird, but nothing worse that a damp, sweaty bra! Just can't put a fresh shirt over it. YUK!
Zip Lock Bags, a Sharpie for marking just about anything, and sissors (in checked luggage, if flying, of course !). There was a thread a while back about zip lock bags and all the uses, and we used the Sharpie for everything from marking our park passes to mugs, to the zip locks.
BTW I packed 16 ponchos from the dollar store for our trip in June (was not being "green" and figured we would pitch after one use), and did not need to crack open one! I guess that was my good luck charm
I bring a wash cloth from the room in a baggie and wet it down throughout the day to wipe our necks/faces off. Then you can stick the wet cloth back in the baggie! I sometimes also throw a hand towel in to to wipe down wet seats after a rain (although the heat dries the water up pretty quick).
I got mine from drugstore.com I bought 2 it was free shipping!
I just got the regular kind, it in a grey bottle with blue and green writing on it! I believe they were $12 almost $13 a piece I bought the 2.5oz size(the bigger one)
