What are the differences between Disney Collection & RCI?

Recently New England resorts were added to the Disney Collection, however these resorts were available through RCI. What is the benefit in including these resorts to the collection?

Access to a different inventory and direct reservations would be my guess. They are also a lot more points.

It looks like these New England resorts are in the Concierge Collection.

As to why who knows. I wouldn't be surprised that there are advantages for both the resorts and DVC and not necessarily for DVC members.

My guess is -- if they are available in both Concierge and RCI -- that the nightly stays are in Concierge at much higher points costs, and the RCI availability is only full weeks at the regular cost.

The other alternative is that the resort (s) withdrew from DVC's RCI inventory to get a better deal through high-points Concierge.

I've never used either... I know there is a $95 fee plus housekeeping fee for RCI. Is this the same for the collection? I don't understand the benefit in the Collection resorts. I wonder how many people use this option.

I assumed it was the InnSeason resorts. I believe all of these resorts are RCI points resorts and all 4 have inventory under 7 nights. There are around 900 check in options between the 4 resorts including summer (looking on RCI points directly), sounds like they're having trouble filling them.

$95 fee either way, there's only a housekeeping fee if it's less than 7 nights in RCI, I'm pretty sure there isn't one for the CC.
