What are the crowds like during Pop Warner week?

We've planned a "Gathering" in December not realizing it's Pop Warner week. Heck, I didn't even know what that meant when I first heard the term. :confused3 I was just wondering if it's really, really crowded during that event week?

My wife and I were at WDW in 2004 during Pop Warner. We stayed at Pop Century, which we normally love, but of course everyone from Pop Warner was also staying there. Actually, let me correct that......It seemed like everyone else from Pop Warner was staying there. The resort was very crowded, the food court was very crowded, the pools were very crowded, and the cheerleaders were practicing their cheers nightly till probably midnight :furious: . Other than that, we didn't really notice. We really didn't notice much difference at the parks. We still had fun and made the best of it.

It's still WDW so no trip there is terrible! I say go ahead and make the best of it :thumbsup2 .

Pop Warner really does not affect the crowds so much as it may have an affect on your stay at your resort.
The cheerleaders are usually who the people complain about the most, although we've never had any problems with them. But some people have stated that they do practice in the court yards of their resorts.
Last year they stayed at the Allstar Sports, and the POR, I am not sure where they are staying this year.
Since they stay in a group and do things as a group they can be a bit over whelming when they all hit the food court together or the pool....stay off the buses when they are getting on because they cheer and cheer and cheer.
They will be in WDW this year from Dec 3rd to Dec 9th.

Last year they stayed at all 3 of the All-Stars. We were not told this when they made our reservations. Since we weren't planning on eating in the food courts, using the buses or using the pools this didn't bother us too much. What did bother us was that they block off the back of AS parking lots. Also that every morning at 7 am we were awoken to cheerleaders practicing. We paid just as much to be there as they did and their should be some consideration. Someday DIsney will figure it out to put them in the back and let the people that are just there for vacation have the front buildings.

For the poster that said they were staying at PC, I thought they would never book any of the competition groups there. Hmmm makes me rethink when I'm going to Disney in December.

The only crowds Pop Warner made was at MGM. It was the only place we noticed them other than the resort.

We will never stay at a value again during Pop Warner! Two years ago we were at ASMovies in one of the Mighty Ducks buildings(we had 6 rooms). Someone kept calling one of our rooms at all hours of the night. This went on every night. There was one night where it seemed that all the chaperones had disappeared and let the kids run wild. The last straw for me was when I saw two kids sliding down the hockey stick on the building from the second floor. I called security and we had extra coverage in our area all night. The parks didn't seem to be any more crowded than usual.

they didn't affect the parks hardly at all. resorts, YES.....and we were at a moderate (POR) and they were terrible there. pool packed, late night stomping around and screaming.....it was terrible

OMG! Thank you all so much for your honesty. Everyone addressed my exact concerns. We'll be vacationing with my parents and love him as I do my DF would be a big "grumpypants" if he had to encounter cheering all day long. (no offense intended to anyone; my daughter was a cheerleader :cheer2: ) I think we'd better consider changing our dates.

I also got caught in the Pop Warner, when I went in Dec 2002. I was staying at ASMo, and the first few days were great...then the cheerleaders invaded...holy smokes!!.. I don't mean to offended anyone but all those Barbie wannabe's!!!...The parks were a little more crowded, but not that much more. I just felt sorry for all the park CM's...they kept getting..'shows' from the cheerleaders :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

We were there last year because my dd is a cheerleader. We stayed at POR, and while I would not let my kids out late there were plenty others who would. It didn't quite down until 12 or so. The food court was horrible with kids with out parents. I haven't been to Disney since I was little but to me the crowds were not bad. The longest wait was Peter Pan, 30-45 minutes. Oh and Sorin(sp?) 2 hours. We had such a good time we are going back in June 2007. I'm not letting my girls compete at national level anymore.

Does anyone know how I can find out when Pop Warner week is in December 2007? Thank you

I just checked Pop Warner's website and it looks like the dates are Dec 3-9. for this year. I don't know about 2007.

We were there during Pop warner last year. Our dates were Dec 6-13. I think Pop Warner ended on Dec 11th. We stayed at CBR and didn't notice any cheerleaders or players. The only thing we noticed were a couple of cheer teams in the parks. They were cheering while in line. It was cute!

Probably if you choose a moderate(CSR or CBR) or deluxe you will have no problem.

It was a wonderful time to go. I did almost all of my Christmas shopping at the resort gift shop. The weather rained some, but for the most part it was nice. The temp was great!. All the parks were decked out in there holiday decorations.
