Next year my side of the family is heading to WDW together. 10 of us. DH and I are supplying the points. Our home resort is SSR but I'm hoping to be able to get savannah view rooms at AKV. What do you think the chances of me getting 3 studios close to each other are?

That depends on what time of year you are looking to get.

It never hurts to request rooms nearby. As with all requests, it's a "maybe". I've asked for (and gotten) 2 studios fairly close to each other. As a request "B", you could ask for at least the same floor (probably easier for them to grant).
Good luck. :thumbsup2

Think about the process of assigning rooms. The only way that the room assigner can assign rooms close together or even on the same floor is if three Guests with studios check out on the same day and you are the only Guests checking in with studios.

You can see why the odds aren't favorable.

Sorry I forgot to add that we are going the first week in December. It's the first time we're booking more than 1 room and I'm a little nervous. We won't really be hanging out in other people's rooms. I guess we can always meet in the lobby.

The first two weeks of December are one of the busiest at the DVC properties because of the low points cost. That means that getting something at a non-home resort at the 7-month window will be a bit tougher at that time of year. That said, I think you have a very good chance of getting 3 studios at AKV...the issue will be getting them close together. The best you can do is make the request. The room assigner will do his/her best to get your studios near each other, but there is no guaranty.

And you are looking for all studios???? I'd say slim to none for that time period. How about getting a 2 bedroom plus a studio? I'd still say chances are slim, but you can always go on a waitlist and waitlist all rooms together...again an even slimmer chance of that.

Studios are first to fill up, and that time of year is so popular with DVC members, I just would plan on making a reservation at your home resort first at the 11 month window and then try to change at the 7 month window. That way if you don't get it, you'll still have rooms.

Everybody needs seperate rooms. No way does anyone (not even my mom) want to share a unit with dad. He tends to get grumpy and needs his own space. The only way to fit all of us is 3 studios or a grand villa. I'm going to make reservations at SSR and then switch over at 7 months. I figure if I have to waitlist that's okay. My sister is super excited about staying at AKV. She could never afford it on her own. The first waitlist to come through will be hers. Mom and dad's next and us last. If we have to stay at SSR so everyone else can stay at AKV that's okay.

Even at SSR, I would try to get one bedrooms (or the studios) instead of one GV for all of you. I know it sleeps 12 but 10 is pushing it, especially with a grumpy dad.
I'll be 5 in a GV next August but if the kids end up bringing someone, it will be 7 (my family of 4 and my mom will be the five).
Good luck and what a nice thing for you to do for your family! I hope you get AK!
