What are the chances

Just want to pick my fellow DVC buddies brains here for a moment. We booked a 1bdrm at VWL for Dec 28-Jan4 on a day by day basis . First time ever going between Christmas and New Years, but it seems like the thing to do this year so we are thrilled to be going. Well..we have very good friends that we would love to bring (didn't know that they could possibly go or we would have booked a 2 bdrm) so now we are thinking about trying for the waitlist. Of course no 2bdrms are available, plenty of 1bdrms are still at VWL. Just wanted to know what all of you pros thought our realistic chances were if we went on the waitlist this week for a two bdrm. We would only do it for the whole week obviously. Thanks!!

Since the 7 month window hasn't opened yet, I think you have a chance.

Were there any studios available? A studio plus a 1 bedroom is only a few more points than a 2 bedroom. Might be worth it for peace of mind (as a back up to the 2 bedroom waitlist). It would also be easy to cancel if your friends changed their minds or had to back out. Getting stuck with the points for a 2 bedroom isn't fun if you only needed a 1 bedroom.

Thanks CarolMN, we didn't ask about studios, but I guess that we just assumed that since we had a 1bdrm reserved and since there were so many 1bdrms available, that if there were any studios open they would have given us that option to switch. Maybe we should call back and talk with someone again. I'm not too worried about getting stuck if our friends say they are going. They are very excited about making this trip. The husband's father was one of the people who first provided a lot of the landscaping rock for WDW back in the 70's so our friend is eager to go to the World.

Just to encourage you, we got 2 nights (Christmas day and the next day) at a 1 BR at VWL about 2 WEEKS OUT!!!

If you have enough points, why not get them a 1 BR also if there are plenty of them available?

Well, that would be lovely, but during this time of the year we really can't swing two 1bdrms for 8 days

Well, we took the plunge today and waitlisted today for the 2bdrm. Our friends are so excited by the possibility! I hope we can hear in a reasonable amount of time so that we can enjoy the planning process. Wish us luck!!

Thanks Muushka! My friend called me today from Spruce Pine and said "book em Dano!" just like on the old show Hawaii 5-0! She is so excited! I am ready to talk restaurants and everything with them, but I should probably wait a while. When they visit in April for a Bulls game I will have to show them all of the pictures of the VWL. They will flip!
