Hi all
First I want to thank you for all of your help as we make this big decision! :flower3:
OK, we are thinking about buying (probably a resale) in SSR. We love it there! But, I am not sure if we are in financial shape to do it in the next few months. We want to go in early December of this year. Should I just rent points and be done with the decision or hold off in case I can buy and use my own points :) ? I am afraid that if I wait too long I won't be able to get a 2 BR in SSR with renting someone's points...Help :confused3

Maybe you have already analyzed this, but wouldnt the cost of the rental be the same as the down payment on your purchase?

A 2BR at SSR for 5 nights (non-weekend), you are looking at 135 points, so around $1350 to rent. True, that would be a nice payment towards DVC, BUT if you know you can't financially handle that right now, then you probably should not try to stretch yourself. The resale market will continue to grow with SSR contracts.

With the costs of going through a reseller, wouldn't it be almost as reasonable to buy directly through Disney?

Maybe you should call DVC and ask if they're going to offer a special of applying the cost of your room (when you go) to the final cost of buying in.

I have thought about this as well. It seems to me that I can save about $15 per pont with a resale. I think that the fees would be less. I am also probably looking at 120-130 points instead of 150. Gosh, I am more confused!

That is a very good point. I just don't want to spend the money renting points and them buy into it before our trip. (Or wait and not be able to get into a 2 BR) I guess if that happens, I could always sell my points...Or maybe someone on these boards can make up my mind and I'll be much happier!

It is harder/ more expensive to finance through a reseller. We bought our contract from the Timeshare Store outright. If we had to finance, I probably wouldn't have bought since I was set on BWV or BCV. We were planning a 2 week trip to the World with extended family members. Total points for the trip were 438, so buying the contract was an easy thing to talk myself into. ;)

I really dont think you will have a problem getting a 2 bdr at SSR if you wait.

SSR is still under construction and releasing new units into inventory weekly. They have all of Phase III to bring online, so availability at short notice looks good even for peak times like early December.

DVC (points) or CRO(cash) cant book it if it is not finished yet.

It depends on your rental price and the days you are going.

Then it depends on your rental price. Those dates you will do as well or better just renting. Still, if you were going to buy anyway, and could afford it you should buy and use those points for you trip.
