What are the chances of a stroller being stolen at Disney?

Just wondering if it is ok to leave expensive strollers outside rides if DH and i both get on with the kids. THX

I know the Castmembers move them out of the way.. so it will get moved.. but I think it will be ok... but I have heard of them being taken.

The stroller should be OK. I would not leave anything valuable in the stroller however.

We take a stroller and leave it. I don't leave anything in it that I couldn't bear to lose but we leave a towel, bookbag with water etc. , and a change of clothes for DD. I have heard of strollers being taken but I think it is pretty rare.

Same here. We don't leave anything in the stroller that we can't live with out. Never had a problem. I have never seen anyone come out and couldn't find there stroller.

An awful lot of them look the same, but i can't imagine anyone deliberately stealing one.

I'd like to think that if you can afford to go to Disney on holiday you have enough money and morals to mean you wouldn't steal a stroller and wouldn't actually need to either.

Obviously don't leave valuables in it, but we have left ours on countless occassions without any difficulty other than they sometimes get moved by CM to make room for people.

We printed our name in large, black letters on bright flurescent orange poster board cut to fit in between the handles of our stroller. We had it laminated, punched two holes in it and secured it with zip ties to the stroller. Someone would have had to cut the ties to get the sign off. The best part was, you could spot that navy blue stroller a mile away.

A lot of CMs thought it was a good idea and so did the relatives we traveled with as they weren't familiar with our stroller. This way they could find it easily too.

Is your expensive stroller a big, bulky one? Are you planning on using WDW transportation? Do you have an infant or toddler that really needs a certain stroller, or would an umbrella one do?

I'm asking because sometimes it's just so much eaiser to use a lightweight, inexpensive umbrella stroller at WDW, especially when you need to fold it up to go on WDW buses.

I agree with mommyBoo about personalizing your stroller. you would be amazed how many different people have the exact same stroller. We put long curling ribbon on the the handles and also painted our name on the child's cup tray up front.

We have had our stroller moved by CM's and that gave us a bit of a heart panic but all was well!

My family had the stroller we rented from Magic Kingdom stollen on the last day of our trip. We took everything into the Storytime with Belle from the stroller with us EXCEPT my daughter's autograph book-Which was found and mailed to us the next day.

Thanks for all the opinions. I have an infant and a toddler. Am planning on taking a Volo for the toddler and a Techno for the infant. Both of them will probably get tired and nap in the strollers so I have to take them. Have heard the disney ones are not good for napping.

in 2003 we brought our maclaren side by side and we'll bring it again. we brought a lock for it and DH locked it up a bunch of times. i thought it was overkill but we really relied on that stroller at the time. now we'll probably bring a lock but not use it as much. we just used a bike lock. you can do that if you're worried about it.

We never had a problem. Although for this last trip we brought our new Maclaren Quest. I wrapped blue painter's tape around the handles and secured a Disney luggage tag to the mesh pocket in back to make it easy to spot and not so easy to steal.

But do take your valuables in a separate bag (we threw them in the diaper bag) when you leave the stroller.

You can't lock your stroller to anything at WDW - they'll just cut your lock. Saw one CM doing it at MK! You can lock your wheels to each other, so it won't roll though.

A retractable snowboard lock is the best I've heard, although I'm not sure how they work on umbrellas like the Volo or the Techno. We bring our Mountain Buggy double which, at $600+, I have never locked up even though I have brought a lock. The only place I might consider locking it is in Downtown Disney where the parking lot is easily accessible to the public area. I could imagine a thief being able to walk off with a stroller there alot easier than within the parks. But when it comes down to it, I agree with PP: if you can afford a trip to WDW hopefully you wouldn't need to steal a stroller.

I've heard on these boards of several strollers being stolen, so I'd advise not bringing any that you could not afford to lose. It's not just the "poor" who might have a problem with taking things that belong to others...

Yeah, I've seen a mom crying over a stolen stroller outside of Soarin' the last time we were there.

If it really is a pricey one, lock it.

If it's a cheaper one, like our graco double wide, then personalize it. We put bumper stickers on the foot-rests from Fernbank and Disney and it's *very* obvious which navy blue stroller is ours.

We just got back and have a Combi Twin Savvy. I brought a bike lock but kept forgetting to bring with to the parks, so we never locked it (we were just going to lock the wheels togther). We left it numerous occasions outside shows and restaurants, and never had a problem. Obviously we never left anything of value in the stroller when we left it, but we would leave items in it that weren't valuable. Nothing was ever taken.

We went in October with some friends and they had their stroller "taken". I really don't think it was so much stolen as it was a case of mistaken identity. LOL! They had their backpack in the stroller.. there were no valuables in it, just the autograph book and a change of clothes for the girls. They finally found the backpack at Lost and Found at AK but never got the stroller back. We assume whoever took it must have thought that since they left their stroller back at the attraction, they would just keep the one they had. (our friends') and turn in the backpack.
I have to tell ya, it ruined everybody's day because our friend was just beside herself about that backpack. She didn't care about the stroller, since it wasn't very expensive, but that autograph book...OY!
Thankfully everything turned out okay in the end. But it can happen.
