This is my 4th trip but the first one I am REALLY planning. So my question is what are the best snacks to bring into the parks (won't melt) for my DD's 5&7 DS15 and mommy of course.

Thanks in advance and the DIS boards have helped sooooo much!!! :cheer2:

I like the StarKist Tuna Snack Pack they are a great pick me up snack, and the kids really seems to enjoy them too.
Peanuts in snack packs and slim jims jerky.

We have tried everything, but our boys prefer things like goldfish crackers, peanutbutter crackers, pretzels, etc. In other words, we bring in dry snacks and water. Nothing melts, and it is light...

Dole fruit cups. Very refreshing to have some pineapple or peaches.

I like to bring along fruit leather strips. It is a healthy choice that fits very nicely into any purse or bag. They are usually 65 cents each at the grocery store, so they aren't a cheap snack.

I don't have kids but for me I get the individual packs of almonds. It has the right balance of carbs, good fats, and protein. Keeps me going when I don't have time to eat or my ADR is later. I carry a package in my purse at home too.

I usually bring a bunch of stuff then the night before each park we pick and choose a couple of items for some variation as it's normally just to keep DD's spirits up when in a long line.
Those 100 calorie individual snack bags
yougurt prentzels
individual pringles
peanut butter cookies
jelly bellys
A banana that is typically eatten on the bus ride over for a pre character breakfast snack because 'Mom I'm sooooo hungry'
Smart Food popcorn
Granola bar

Some of my favorite snacks to bring to the parks are....
Beef Jerky (they now make them in individiual bags and 100 calorie packs)
trail mix
Milk and cereal bars
craisins
poptarts
100 calorie pack stuff

Don't bring anything. It's cheaper to just go ahead and buy everything in the parks.

I just found these amazing snacks at Wal-Mart by Smart Food called popcorn clusters. They're like fiddle faddle without the fat and high calories, all natural, and so delicious. They come in individual bags and they are really tasty. I'm planning on bringing some for our next trip. Previously, we've taken the crunch granola bars, since the soft ones melt and tend to have high fructose corn syrup which is a no-no in our house, and whole grain pretzels. Almonds are always a great choice mixed with some low-fat granola and raisins for a trail mix in little ziplock baggies!

Umm. not really, they charge over 1 dollar for ONE banana!:scared1: Publix has them for 50c a pound! 2 would cost less than 50 cents!:rolleyes1 So, yea, I would bring a snack, thats for sure!

Dry, non-sugary snacks seem to go best for our DD5 and DS7. Fish crackers or pretzels are our two favs. The kids will get plenty of sugar from the normal stuff around the park.

We always have gone during free dining, and the meal plan has so much food built into it that we seldom have to break out the emergency reserves.

Not exactly on-topic, but one thing we tend to do for snacks is get one or two for the family of four, and we're always done snacking with that. Of course that means we end the trip with many unused snacks. (two years ago(when you could still do this), I went home with 14 bags of Goofy Sour Cherry Balls :cool1: )

I am SO addicted to this snack as well! It's so good! And they should hold up pretty well in the heat as well!

I saved my shopping list that I did for wegoshop.com from my last trip...I am copying and pasting straight from there. These are the things we brought into the parks:

atkins snack coconut bars 5 count
atkins snack peanut fudge granola bars 5 count
Slim-Fast Optima: Chewy Granola Chocolate Chip Meal Bar, 1.97 oz 6 count
no added sugar raisins (snack sized packs)
bananas
Apples
Oberto hickory smoked jerky
12 count pack string cheese
Great Value Oats & Honey Crunchy Granola Bars
Great Value Fruit & Nut Chewy Trail Mix Granola Bars

We also brought powdered drink mix (similar to Crystal Light) to flavor water and took ziplock bags from home to store a day's snack in just in case something sprung a leak. I was really surprised at how well the granola bars and the Atkins bars held up at the parks. They didn't melt at all even with being inside of a backpack all day long. Same goes for the string cheese (it was the kind that doesn't need refrigeration). :wizard:

I love freeze-dried fruit. It's not cheap, but it's healthy, crunchy and delicious and a nice change from the less healthy stuff you can buy in the parks. Trader Joe's sells it fairly cheap, and Wal-Mart has just started carrying single-serving bags with Disney themes. Or you can buy tubs of it at whole Foods or Fresh Market, just make sure to squeeze/shake the tub first to make sure it hasn't gone stale.

I also like cereal bars and peanut butter crackers.

I agree with most of the other suggestions.

One I will add though...

Those little single serving boxes of cereal...like Cherrios or Fruit Loops or even Raisen Bran...we had some in our room, and we would have some for bfast in our room, but found they were also great as dry snacks for in the stroller and stuff. We had a 5, 3, and 2 yo with us.

A few others that may have been mentioned but I'll say again...

~ single serve little boxes of raisens (we had reg and yogurt covered, and since it was Dec we didn't have a melting issue)

~ Baby Carrots (they have single serve bags or you could use ziplocs)

~ Apples and Oranges

~ Juice Boxes or CapriSun Roaring Waters

~ If you wanna take a small soft-sided cooler, string cheese, grapes, gogurt.

~ Any kind of cheese or animal cracker

~ Granola Bars
