Okay, so maybe explore isn't the correct word, but it makes me feel more adventurous ;) Fort Wild is one... Any others?

I'm going for three weeks but only doing the parks for two- the other week will be spent doing downtown Disney, maybe the waterparks and exploring and really soaking in the details of Disney.

A walk around Caribbean Beach and out to the island is nice, POFQ is nice to walk through and take the boat to DTD. Port Orleans Riverside is absolutely gorgeous and worth the walk, rent a bike, boat the "river" or take the carriage ride to Port Orleans French Quarter and back. Check out the Port Orleans threads and the awesome site, portorleans.org

The Wilderness Lodge is a beautiful resort and a great place to explore. You could take a free hour long guided tour that is offered at 9 am from Wed to Sat.
There are two different boat routes, one to MK and one that travels between WL, CR and FW. You could take the boat to FW and explore. There are bike rentals and surrey rentals at WL, too.

There are a lot of things to do at FW, including horseback riding and archery lessons. There is also a free Chip and Dale campfire sing a long.

The whole Y&BC and Boardwalk complex. period...... :yay:

Don't forget the value resorts! AoA has great outdoor displays of Disney characters and the landscaping is extremely impressive. In the little mermaid area they picked plants that you could imagine are under the sea. When you switch to the Pride Rock the plants change to ones that fit in with the African area.

My husband and I go to a different Disney resort each month to "explore". We really loved the quaint feel of POFQ. As previous posters have noted, AKL is great, transforms you to a whole different place. And, Coronado Springs really makes you feel you are in the desert! You really can't go wrong, I think that each resort has its highlights (even the value ones!) Have fun! :)
