for any of you out there that have had gall bladder issues can you please tell me what your symptoms where and how sever they where in the beigining? i have a symptom of something but can't get into the dr until aug 19th someone plese help.

I had mine out a few years ago. It started with feeling sick after I ate anything high in fat or proteim. Like I was going to puke. Then the symptoms progressed to actually vomiting and then I had a pain in my left shoulder and left back. I went to the dr several times telling him I was having a heart attack. If you push under your right rib up and under is when I could tell it was my gallbladder after I had been sick for a long time. I know there are several other symptoms that can appear, and this was my own experience. The Surgeon also asked if I was gassy in my stomach as that is common.

Good Luck

I had "grains of sand" in my gallbladder. For me, I had a constant dull ache under my ribcage and did not tolerate food at times. I knew I needed it out however it took me a 1yrish to get it out.

I had no problems until several days before getting mine out. I woke up around 2-3 in the morning a couple nights in a row, with pains in my stomach. They lasted about an hour. Went back to bed, went to work the next day...I was fine. The next night, same thing...about an hour later, the pains went away and I went back to sleep, went to work...I was fine. The third night, the pains were more severe and went around to my back. This time, they weren't going away. I ended up waking my husband up and telling him he had to take me to the hospital. After some tests, they determined that my gall bladder was loaded with stones and had to come out, ASAP. I ended up being admitted and had the surgery two days later. Good luck!

I had a gallbladder attack in January where the symptoms morphed over a few days.

At first, I was just feeling bloated and queasy. I got pangs in my stomach and thought I was hungry. I ate but threw up. I left like I had some tightness or a stitch in my abdomen right under my ribs on the right.

The pain started to subside, but three nights later I got a new pain, like I had been stabbed. Again, the right side. The pain was unbearable, like the whole area was on fire. I went to the ER. After an ultrasound and and MRI (or maybe a CT scan, I forget), they diagnosed me with gallstones. I had my gallbladder out about 6 weeks later.

Mine felt like severe heartburn. At first, it was occasional, but it progressed to every meal, no matter what I ate. I was having attacks when drinking water by the end.

i had the feeling that if i could just burp or umm...fart... i'd feel much better. it would never happen though.

also had a pain on my right side, kinda middle of my "girls". after awhile it felt like it was going straight through me to the same spot in my back.

it only took 4 months to figure it out!

one of my attacks was at chef mickey's....i was the same color green as the napkin!!

Mine came on suddenly and was the worst pain in my entire life. I would have rather had 8 kids with no meds than what I went through. I had literally just sat down to dinner and taken 2 bites of my meal when I got the worst pain in my stomach. Within an hour I was vomiting nonstop. The pain got worse-wrapped around my back- and I ended up going to the ER. I spent 4 hours in the ER, given an injection of a medicine I was allergic to and then sent packing because my levels were "normal." I was back in the hospital 12 hours later via ambulance, was given 4 shots of delaudid, benadryl and some kind of esophagael concoction. Sent back home with pain meds and no answer. I got into my Dr the next day and they immediately looked at the labs and said Gall Bladder! My gall bladder was so infected they refused to do anything until I was on antibiotics for a week. Thank heavens for pain killers! Once the surgery was done and over with, I bounced back within a week. Haven't had any problems since:)

Reading this thread just shows how different symptoms can be. When I had my pains they didn't cause me any stomach problems or heartburn feelings at all. Mine would be all of a sudden I would feel like my lungs were being squeezed in a vice. It hurt to breathe or do anything. I would take 2 Advil and crawl up in the one comfortable position I could find on my bed and wait for it to pass. I would hardly breathe during that time because it just hurt too darn much. I had my gallbladder out and every once in a while I still get the pain. They have done an MRI and CT scan and even stuck a camera down my throat and they still don't know why I would still have the pain. It's not fun for sure.

Yes, everyone has different symptoms. With my first gallbladder attach I felt like I had the worse case of stomach flu ever. After my gallbladder came out I had another attack, and I thought I was dying. In fact, I told my husband there was no way I could make it to the car and wait in ER, I was just going to lay in bed and die. This was about a week out from my surgery, and he ended up calling 911 for an ambulance. That attack was due to a stone being lodged in the bile duct. That was the worse pain ever...worse than childbirth.

Most of my pain was in my back, felt like I was being stabbed in the back...I had some chest pain as well. Had some sickness too but most of all back pain, I even went to the doc with the back issue. I had a couple neck surgeries prior and it would give me back pain as well, so I thought it was that so when they did a bunch of test they said "your neck is fine, but you have a heck of lot of gall stones" :rolleyes1

Good Luck :goodvibes

Reading this thread because I had an MRI for my back and they found gallstones. A lot of things now make sense. I've had persistent heartburn for almost a year. Several years ago I had severe pain in my stomach one night which I attributed to gas. I was up until around 1 or 2 in the morning before it subsided. A few nights later I had the same problem. But haven't had a problem with that since. I'm taking the MRI in to my doctor today and will see what she says.

Mine came very suddenly.

Saturday: Slight discomfort and pain under ribs on the front right side that grew. Almost thought I was hungry. Ate and then threw up. Pain faded but didn't go away.

Wednesday: SEVERE pain under ribs under the front right side. As if you were stabbed or shot. Went to the hospital, diagnosed with gallstones.

I spent about 6 months getting woken up in the night with a weird pain kind of in the vicinity of my sternum. Right between the breasts. It would wake me and then go away after about an hour or so.

Finally , one day, I developed , what I thought was awful gas. For a while I walked around like a duck , having DH pound my back. It just got worse and worse to the point it had me crying. The pain between my breast and felt straight through to my back.

One tip, if they do a Cat Scan make sure they do an ultrasound. My CS showed nothing which caused me to leave the hospital and have another WORSE attack a week later.

After I had my GB out, never had an issue again.

I had my first attack 8 days after I delivered my first DD by C-section. I was only 22yo at the time. Honestly, it felt like I was having a heart attack. I remember laying on the cool tile in our bathroom just praying to get it over with.

After several trips to the ER because of the attacks, I was finally told that it was my gallbladder. Because of my age, I guess no one thought about it.

Because I had the recent C-Section, the surgeon had to wait 6 weeks to take it out. This was in '87 when most were not doing lap. After surgery, the doctor said that it wouldn't have worked anyway because I had so many stones. He said that he stopped counting after reaching 100. I also had several in the duct to my liver. This surgery was harder to recover from than either the C-section or the appendectomy.

Looking back on it, I was probably having symptoms all along but contributed them to being pregnant.

Best Wishes!

Edited to add...

nothing in particular would throw me into an attack. Sometimes I could eat McDonalds with no problem and other times I could eat a bowl of homemade chicken soup and end up in the ER.

Imagine having a piece of rebar thrust into your chest and out your back. That's what it feels like.

That's the way that I felt too but I also thought that I had heartburn. My chest hurt so bad thatI thought I was having a heart attack because I couldn't catch my breath. I felt like if I unbuttoned my pants it would help, but it didn't. I just had this pressure feeling that wouldn't go away. Mine was full of gallstones.

My Dr. told me that this is common in women who had just had a baby. I had just given birth three months before.

Yep, that about sums it up. I have never, ever experienced such pain in my entire life! Honestly, it felt like I was dying!
