OK, I love the Dis  for it's wealth of information....but I like having a physical book I can read too. I have the UG (several issues) and have taken Birmbaum's out from the Library. What else makes for good reading on Disney? Either for travel tips/touring...or just plain interesting things about the world and mouse???

I was at Barnes & Noble tonight and thought the "Econoguide to Disney, Universal & Sea World" looked like it might be a good read. Anyone use this before? The Frodor Guide didn't look like it added anything particularly useful....and I don't think PassPorter would really be much help at this point. I have lots of things to keep my ADRs, and stuff in order. Is it more than that?

We leave for vaca'n soon and I'd like to have a new Disney book (or 2) to take along. Can't wait for your suggestions. Thank you.

Are you looking for simply park information, or general Disney books on the whole organization? "Inside the Magic Kingdom : Seven Keys to Disney's Success " by Tom Connellan is technically a "how to be a success at business" book but has a lot of really cool tidbits about how they operate the theme parks. "Inside Disney : the Incredible Story of Walt Disney World and the Man Behind the Mouse" by Eve Zibart is very good as well, and is considered one of the "Unofficial Guide" books. Right now I'm reading "Disney War" by James B. Stewart, which is a kind of business biography of the Michael Eisner years; facinating, but not exactly light reading. ;)

I love the DK Travel Books:

Yes, I'm looking more for a book that tells little known secrets or history of the rides & attractions. I think I have touring plans covered.

I would still encourage you to check out the Passporter..there is alot of good info in there

Thanks. I'll check it out tomorrow when we go back to B&N.

Today we were at an outlet mall and I picked up a great book entitled: "The Little BIG book of Disney" w/ a foreward by Roy E. Disney but written by Monique Peterson. It was only $6 instead of $25. I'm having a hard time staying away from it (I want to bring it on vacation w/ me!!). Nice pictures and some really interesting tidbits about the Disney brothers, the parks, and the films/business.

In terms of PassPorter...should I wait for the 2007 edition at this point? That won't give me vaca'n reading, but as I recall all the guide books come out in Aug or early Sept don't they for the following year? Or are the 2006 versions already being discounted...that would be nice! I'll go check Amazon.com....

I have been a disciple of the UG since 1994 and still use the touring plans to great success. However, I do purchase a copy of Passporter for every trip. It is invaluable in planning, and we also use it like a daily journal while on vacation, which allows better planning and budgeting for the next trip!

My kids now reflect upon the "best thing, worst thing, funniest moment and magical moment" at the end of every day as guided by Passporter.
