What are our options for places to stay on the Big Island in Hawaii?

My DH is trying to qualify for the Ironman in October of 2005.

When would we have to start thinking about something?

What if we decide to trade and then he doesn't qualify, what happens to those points?

I'd put in a request for Kona Coast Resort for the size unit you need. You don't have to make a final commitment until a match is offered but that could be as early as Oct of 2003 since they many times deposit at 2 years out. If you match then don't go, you can cancel and lose your points and exchange fee though you can ask for another exchange for anything up until 2 years after the date of the orignal deposit with another exchange fee. Although a little bird is telling me that on a cancelled exchange, you may be limited to 1 year after cancellation or 2 years from the week deposited which ever is less.
