right now we are booked at okw (our home resort ) ds always wanted to stay at akl so I was figuring akl value studio for us (we are a family of 4).

Our date of arrival would be dec 10 to dec 14...do you think we might have a chance at the 7th month mark??

I called at the 7 month mark & had no problem getting a studio at AKV for Dec. 20-26, 2007.... And that was Christmas Week :santa:.

That was when AKV was new though (I think it had been open a month or less....I'm not sure if that had anything to do with availablity or not).

You are looking at a value studio. I would imagine that will be very hard to get at the 7-month point.

On the bright side, you are already booked for your first love. If you don't get AKV this time, you'll get it some other time. You're in an ideal situation -- enjoy your trip!

last year, i called right at the 7 month mark and waitlisted for a value studio. back then, i could split my waitlist and asked for the first 3 nights as a group and the last 2 nights as a group. the first 3 nights came through around october, IIRC...but the last 2 nights never came through at all.

given that it's all or nothing now for waitlists...and there are still only a few (maybe 10?) value rooms but with more AKV owners now that they've been selling kidani for a while...

i would bet against it, but you never know...

(plus, the value rooms are pretty small...i really wouldn't want to try to squeeze 4 people into one.)

if you can spare a few extra pts, i would highly recommend trying for a non-value studio (ideally with a savanna view). AKV with the decorations up is simply amazing. the huge, beautiful tree plus giraffes and zebras...it is a great place to stay for the holidays.

(but if your request to stay at AKV doesn't work out, you should still make reservations at boma or jiko at jambo house and wander around the lobby for a few minutes...and go out back to look at the animals. it's still a great experience.)

Stay where you are this time and book AKV when you can stay in at least a regular sized room. You will REALLY feel cramped in a value at AKV...especially since you are used to OKW!!

This post made me laugh because I have a studio savannah view at AKL for December 11-13 but I am hoping to change to a studio at OKW for these dates. Hopefully we both get what we wish for :wizard:

Had to chuckle at this comment.. funny how perceptions change..

We're a family of four, and have only stayed at moderate resorts so far (looking into getting DVC), and their rooms are 315 sq ft. AKL value rooms are 316 sq ft... so even a value room would be bigger than what I'm used to... I'm gonna feel lost in a regular villa, :rotfl:
