What are my odds?

The biggest difficulty with renting out that many points is going to be piecing together a long enough stay to rent a confirmed reservation. It's probably doable though. Assuming you get control of the points in April, that gives you 4 months to use them. I would probably try to put together a week somewhere like AKV or BLT in a 2 bedroom that uses up most of those points and then rent that confirmed reservation. An 8 night Saturday to the following Sunday trip should use most of those points and rent pretty easily. 4 months out is not the time to try to rent the points directly piecemeal. DVC availability is rough right now though, there's a ton of points that have to be used soon, so things are busier than usual.

Also hit up family and friends that might be thinking about a WDW vacation and let them know you have points for cheap.

I personally wouldn't be counting on that rental income as part of my purchasing decision, but if you can recoup a few thousand you should definitely do it.
Thanks so much for the detailed advice! Are AKV and BLT the resorts that rent the fastest? Or is it just easier to find 2 bedrooms available there? I want to be as strategic as possible :)

I would rent them out for 13 or less. Have you passed ROFR yet if not then it might be a long wait

My thought process suggesting those 2 resorts is that they are both larger, and you have a better chance at putting together a week in a 2 bedroom at those resorts. They will rent better than Saratoga or Old Key West due to their popularity. So to answer your questions, yes to both. You can probably find a 2 bedroom lake view at BLT sometime before the end of summer, and AKV the more expensive Savanna View has a decent chance at availability. I just checked and both BLT Lake and AKV Kidani Savanna View have good availability right now

There are some other options for getting rid of those points, but those might be the easiest.

I have not passed ROFR yet, just starting the process and trying to find out information so I can strategize once I get the points.

Since you have not yet passed ROFR, you might have a bit of a wait. if you pass you are looking at anywhere from april through july for points to load in your account. you can rent them between 9-13. if you do not get the points until june, you are probably looking at 10/point

Thanks! I should have put all the details. This is what we were told.
407 points for 2021 - 275 banked from Aug. '20 and 132 borrowed into Aug. '21 from Aug '22. So I think these all have to be used by 7/31/22.
Then we also have 418 points for 2022 - 275 banked from Aug '21 and 143 from Aug.'22.
It's a little confusing to me so I appreciate the guidance.
Wow! Those are some messed up points! It looks as if the seller had a big trip planned and had to borrow points. Then the trip was canceled and they decided to sell.

Those 407 points in the 2021 UY will expire August 1, 2022. The last night that they can be used will be for the night of July 31 - Aug 1. They cannot be "un-borrowed" or banked a second time.

Once you get your points, start looking for weekend nights that you can book for stays that end no later than August 1. Look for anything from studios to grand villas and cabins or bungalows. Once booked, offer the reservation(s) up at fire sale prices. Even $8 per point is better than nothing Locals! Locals looking for a deal on a weekend getaway will snap them up if the price is right.

Worst case, if you can't rent them out, I guess you could deposit them into Interval Exchange and use them for a trip somewhere else another time. I don't know the ins and outs, maybe someone else here does. I know depositing for exchange isn't the best use of DVC points, but if the alternative is to lose them because there isn't availability then that would be an option.

The broker did give me lots of recent history on Poly ROFR and it's looking like it will pass and hopefully quickly. I don't understand the 3 week average time from recording the deed to getting the points and being able to book. That seems so excessively long for something that should be a simple administrative task. Fingers crossed I get them by early May and there's still availability.

You can keep calling and hopefully get the points deposited sooner. The admin system to do all of that is pretty broken anyway. You know, squeaky wheel. Once they are deposited, I would call back again and see if any of it can be banked or whatever.
