What are my chances?

I just found out I closed yesterday and everything was sent to Disney. Was told it should take 3 weeks to get my membership number and package.
Now here is my question, I am leaving in 4 weeks and driving to Disney. What are my changes of a last minute room at any DVC. I would love to hop from one resort to another just to see different rooms, are you able to book rooms one week out?

I do have reservations now but can cancel or adjust if I can book a DVC room.

I am pretty new to DVC, but from what I have read it just depends on what is available.

It seems like SSR and OKW usually have some kind of availability. I have read where people have added on to their current visits while at the resort.

Since it will be September, you may have a chance to get to visit a couple of resorts. You can always just stop by and see what each look like.

We like to book dinner or lunch at different DVC resorts to get a look around.
Next week DH and I have dinner reservation at Grand Floridian cafe. I am planning to be over there a little early to have a look at VGF.

as the english teachers say, you "may" book rooms one week out...but whether you "can" is a different matter. (some people have grabbed a single night's reservation the day of arrival - anything is possible, but some outcomes are more likely than others.)

SSR is the largest resort and the best bet for short notice availability.

you will likely have trouble stringing together a long reservation, but picking up a day here or there is more likely.

i don't like switching resorts a lot, though, because it leaves you a bit "homeless" in between checkout and waiting to check back in (with DVC, early check-in is fairly rare in my experience...usually it's much closer to 4pm or so before your room will be ready.)
