What are my chances...

...of getting in at O'Hana's as a wlk-up on the day? I have now decided that I would like to eat here (yes, I have been talking to Tracy again) and I have 2 evenings when I could do it.

I am also considering cancelling our ADR at Chef Mickey's on the evening of MVMCP.

And I'm still dithering about the car.

Oh dear. My head is spinning, perhaps I should step away from the computer lol.

Don't know your chances but personally, I've walked up to may Disney restaurants and had no problem getting a table (in fact, I've never been turned away...and I've only ever been in high season - summer and spring break).

Just keep trying, we changed a couple of meals while out there last month, couldn't do it months in advance but did it while there no problem. People change and cancel you just need to get in at the right time.

What time at CM's? I certainly wouldn't eat there if I had paid for party tickets, I would be in the park from 4pm. We only eat CS on party nights, TS takes up too much time when there is so much going on.

When we ate at CRT a guest walked up and said how long is the wait for a table. The CM said "approx 3 to 6 month"

The ADR is for 5, will almost certainly cancel it. I have done the same for MNSSHP by booking Liberty Tree for the same time. Might keep that one though.

Yeah lots of people say that but we've walked into lots of places - O'Hana, 1900PF, Crystal Palace etc. during our trips (only ever go over Easter, or July/August). All places I would expect you to get walk up, buffets are far easier to get walk up than full TS meals. They have a 1 hour turnover rate compared to 2 hours in TS. I also have had no problem doing walk up at buffets, Boma was at Xmas after being told every park restaurant was sold out for the evening, plenty of space at Boma. Also Trails end, my fave buffet, done 3 0r 4 walk ups there no problem. I believe its also easier to get walk up in resorts compared to the parks.
There will be always somewhere to eat but anyone wanting a specific restaurant is far better making a reservation if possible.

After trying unsuccessfully to get ressies at 'Ohana's before my vacation, my DH and I decided to walk up. We were taken immediately. I didn't even have time to walk to Kona Cafe to cancel my ressie and our table was ready. DH had to sit and wait for me at the table. So, yes, it is possible. Also, depending on what time you have for CM the night of the Christmas party, you can do both. I am have ressies at 'Ohana the night I am going to MNSSHP. You should eat at CM no later than 5:00 p.m. to get to the park by 6:30. They start with the wrist bands at 4:00 p.m. Normally I try to eat in the park, usually a TS somewhere. But this time I changed. It's usually CP. No matter where you go, with Disney magic, you will have a good time. Enjoy your trip.

Keep trying for ohana especially when you are there (conceirge or guest services will check if you are not online) - it's a cc hold so people will cancel not just no show.

If you are walking up go at opening.

I also wouldn't do TS dinner on a MNSSHP day. Have a character breakfast or maybe a nice lunch somewhere then be at the park before 7 (we also go in at 4pm) There are very few lines then - all the non party people are leaving and alot of MNSSHP guests don't show up until 7pm as the 4pm entry isnt well known.

Thanks everyone. I will definitely try a walk-up for O'Hana. I'm veering towards concelling the ADR's on the party nights but will decide closer to the time - although not too close!

Ohana - keep trying online we got a ressie 2 days out. Every time I have been in that Poly lobby the wait for Ohana has been mad though so I would have a back up plan.

Oh and we didn't see what all the fuss was about over dinner at Ohana much prefer their breakfast

I wasn't impressed by breakfast but then I am not by any character breakfast. Eve meal had 2 meals there, 1 with window seat and great server which was really enjoyable, the other next to the "entertainment" and bad server, really poor.
Doubt we will go back for either.

If I were you I would cancel the ADR for CMs and eat CS in the park. By the time that you have finished dinner and are over at the park the queues will be very long. We always get to the park for around 4 and it gets increasing busy the closer that it gets to 7. Like a PP said I think that most people don't realise that you can be in the park from 4.

As for 'Ohana, I would try and get an ADR if you can as this will hopefully minimise the amount of time that you have to wait, but failing that I would just show up and see what they have available.
