What are my chances? Wait-listed at BLT.

So, today we are seven months out from October 3rd. I called in to Member Services to book an Oct. 3-7 stay at BLT in a 1-bdrm. MK-view villa. The room and view selection are both due to MNSSHP.

Of course, DVC didn't have availability for my dates. So I took the Lake view, and was put on an upgrade/waiting list for the MK view.

I get the impression that the odds are really not stacked in my favor re: a MK view opening back up again. I was hoping that folks with more experience in such matters could weigh in. Am I spot-on in my prediction? Or should I be a bit more optimistic?

Thanks!

I would say because you are wait listing all 4 nights, that your chances are much less than if you were wait listing a night or two, but you never know.

That being said, there are some LV rooms that also have a MK view so you could put a request in. Not guaranteed of course, but it couldn't hurt.

Good Luck!

Thanks! Do you know of a site that tells you which LV rooms also have the MK view? I am guessing such rooms are in the North tower, but am not sure which room numbers to ask for.

I think you could potentially get it today if BLT people switch resorts right at the 7 month mark, but I also think a lot of BLT people who book MK view, book it because they plan on staying there and not switching at the 7 month mark.

Here's hopin'. I called first thing this morning in hopes I could nab an MK view, knowing full well those might have been fully booked a few months ago. But you're right - I wouldn't expect someone with a BLT home resort to switch someplace else.

Thank you again. It looks like 8210 or 8410 are the way to go. :thumbsup2

I believe your chances are pretty good. I have been wait listed and got it. Anyways, it is still up to luck.

According to the online systems, 10/3 is available. 10/4, 5, 6, 7 are soldout for MK view. Standard view is avalable all 4 nights.

As a PP stated, it is not in your best interest to request specific room numbers. If those rooms are not available, the room assigners have no way of knowing what you are really looking for. Instead, room location requests should be more "general", such as:
-Highest floor possible
-North tower
-Even numbered room

Honestly, we had a 1BR Lake View last October, room #8004, and with just a slight turn to the left, we had a nice view of Space Mountain and even the castle.

I think you have a reasonable chance for a WL to come through. This early in the schedule people are often moving from one resort to another. Or even canceling the entire reservation a couple of months later. We've done a few WLs and have gotten each one, but every time we only had 3 or 4 nights waitlisted. I do think the fewer number of days actually waitlisted raises the chance of your getting the WL. Those that WL a week have more problems getting it versus those with 3 or 4 nights.

And if you don't get the WL you've saved some points and can end up with a good view the lake. You're still walking distance to MK which is a big plus for MNSSHP.

Thanks folks. When you got your upgrade, did they automatically debit your points and lock in the room? Or did they e-mail you and require you to affirmatively respond before the upgrade and point debiting took place?

On one waitlist, I was called only because it required borrowing points from the next use year. Otherwise, I believe it's done automatically.

If you have the points, I would book the one MK night that is available and waitlist the others with instructions to cancel the Lake View if the rest of the MK view nights become available.

Great idea. I may do that. Thank you!

You never know. :goodvibes When I let go of a club level booking at the AKV the MS says "NO ONE does that!" Yeah, well I did. You never know! Hopefully, you got in at the beginning of the wait-listings, so you have a far better shot than someone booking a few week or months from now. :thumbsup2 Good luck! Positive thoughts and pixie dust!

Lol - I've switched from AKV concierge twice and I've switched from BLT at least once. I've switched from 2 THV's and also from a BCV 2BR with 2 queen beds. There's no accounting for what some of us people will do! :rotfl:
