What are my chances - BWV?

I'm hoping to rent a week in a studio at BWV through one of the rental agencies. I've done this before and we requested BWV and ended up with OKW. While we were disappointed at first we ended up loving OKW and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. However, we really want to stay at BWV at least once. I plan to make my request more than eleven months in advance, but wonder how many BW owners really rent out their points and if I actually have a chance. Also, would I have a better chance requesting Standard or Preferred? TIA for any insight. I do not plan to rent privately, only through an agency.

At 11 months out, I'd say your chances are good-to-excellent. And that's equally true for all the views (Boardwalk, pool/garden, standard)...

Having said that, there's no guarantee...it's possible the time you ask there will be no BWV owners who've made their points available to the rental agencies. And the time of year you want to go matters, too...Christmas, T-giving, 4th of July, Easter, F&W--all those will be more competitive (especially for the Boardwalk and Standard views) than during "normal" or "less busy" times.

Still, if you get your request in prior to the opening of the 11-month booking window, I'd say your chances are really very good, especially if you say you're ok w/garden-pool view if you can't get Std (or Boardwalk)...

In addition to working with a broker, you could try working direct with an owner here on the rent trade board. I'm a BWV owner who rented out my points last year through a broker - and renting your points through David is a little like playing a game of spoons - I let several people who wanted points pass by me because I was busy doing other things - I have no idea if another owner picked them up or not, before an email hit at a time when it was good for me to respond that I would make that reservation.

When do you want to go? BWV is easier to get February through mid September. More difficult mid September to January. Preferred pool/garden is the easiest to get.

Thanks all. This is exactly the info I was seeking. My dates are flexible. I had never been on the rent/trade board. It looks pretty complicated but I will study it. I am a bit nervous to rent privately but have rented condos in Florida and Maui privately with success. I am planning far in advance as this winter's trip is to Maui, back to a condo that we loved. I have been reading the DVC boards with interest. Thanks again.

standard studios tend to 'go' first for dates I've checked
