What are my chances at the 7 month window?

I'm thinking about what I'd like to do in December 2008. We own at AKV, and we want to spend the 2nd half of the week there, but we'd like to try another DVC resort for the first half of the week (nights of 11/29, 11/30, and 12/1).

I know that's a very popular time of year for the DVC resorts, so I would use the day by day booking technique. What are my chances of getting a studio at the 7 month window at one of these resorts:

1) BCV
2) VWL
3) BWI preferred
4) BWI standard
5) SSR
6) OKW

Your first two would be the toughest as they are the smallest on-site DVC resorts at WDW.

BWV - Preferred is not too bad as long as you are okay with the Pool & Garden view and not looking for the Preferred - Boardwalk View. BWV Standard View is as hard as VWL or BCV.

OKW and SSR, due to their size, are your best bets. For that time of year that's what I'd probably try. It makes no sense to waitlist day by day for more than one resort unless you don't mind potentially moving several times.

Pick a resort and give it a shot. But definitely make your entire reservation at AKV first so you have a fall back plan.

Those nights are Thanksgiving weekend next year. I'd book all at AKV, pick another resort, and pray hard until the 7 month window if you really want to move for the first part of your trip.

Thanks for the help! Would it make a difference if I moved my dates to 12/6-12/12? I was thinking that since that's during the start of Mousefest, it might be even harder, but I don't really know.

I'm surprised that people think that BCV is as hard as SV BWV or VWL for December. I've never tried, so it's just the feeling that, for me, the draw of BCV is SAB. So, are you all speaking from experience...BCV is hard to get in at 7 months in December, for the later dates, begining 12/6? I agree that Thanksgiving would be hard.

I do think you stand a chance at BWV, preferred view. I was able to get a studio there around 5 months out 2 years ago for a 3 night stay beginning around Dec. 19.

Hey ead79, we are also thinking of the same as to splitting our Dec 08 trip. We own at SSR and were thinking of trying to split between that and AKV. I see that SSR is #5 on your list, but perhaps its an option for us to work something out as we would love to spend a few nights at AKV, if you don't mind SSR that is? We will book ours at the 11 month to have something concrete, then come the 7month window we plan to try day to day with AKV. Just a thought....
