From Deb's site.........

The new Magical Moments pins, which debuted for the 100 Years of Magic Celebration, aren't your standard cloisonne pins. These pins are large (about 2", give or take a 1/2") and made of thick plastic. More importantly, each pin has four differently colored LED lights (white, yellow, red, and blue) embedded in the plastic.

The pins light up in a brilliant pattern when you "jump start" them with a light touch. More mini light shows appear on your pins when you encounter a special "magical moments" in the parks, which may include parades, rides, shows, and the Discover the Stories Behind the Magic kiosks.

We've personally seen our pins light up as the first and last floats in a parade pass by, and at the Discover the Stories Behind the Magic kiosks. We've heard from cast members that the pins light up on Tower of Terror (the star room) and in one the scenes in the Great Movie Ride. No doubt there are many more trigger points, and we're sure you'll have a ball finding them all.

Five different pin designs are available: one representing each of the four parks, plus one for the 100 Years of Magic. Two posts on the back keep the pins in place. The pins are $15.00 each and come with two extra batteries.
And welcome to the DIS.

Magical Moments pins were in celebration of Walt's 100th birthday, they were sold only in the parks and at the resorts last year. Each park had a pin, but I believe every pin would work in any of the parks. When going on attractions or attending the parades the pin would "magically" light up at certain parts. It was really a neat idea-very similar I think to the new Pal Mickey technology, but I'm not sure if they are still available or if they would still work.

thanks
couldn't find it on the mousesaver site but oh well.
now can anyone explain this pin collecting thing to me period..I've heard of it, assume you get pins and trade but where do you get them ,how do you trade, any info would be appreciated.
Thanks again

Ok, first -I'm not a pin trader, but I have looked into it for my Mom who does collect pins and I thought this would be fun for her first trip in Nov.

You can purchase the pins at any of the resort gift shops and parks, there are even carts/shops dedicated to the pins. If there is a Disney store close to you, that's also a good place to look for them.

CMs in the parks wear lanyards with various pins and if they have one you would like then you trade one of yours for it. Also I believe that many guests enjoy trading between themselves. I know that there are plenty of folks here who enjoy pin trading and can guide you much better than I.

Check out Deb Wills site, www.wdwig.com for some great information on anything and everything Disney related. Oh and if you'd just like to see some of the pins go to ebay and do a search on Disney pins-I'm sure you'll find more than enough!

Is there anywhere to get extra batteries for the Magic Moments pin? Both of the ones that came with it are dead. (we really loved our pin) I would like to take it back with me in Nov.:D

You can buy replacement batteries (CR-2032) at battery stores, if you have one around you or at www.batteries.com if you prefer to buy online. I just got replacement batteries for all our pins as the original & replacements that came with them are all used up!

Remember, though, don't put the batteries in until you get to WDW...because the pins are always 'on' (to pick up any sensor signals) so they are always pulling battery power while the batteries are in.

Have a great trip!

Do the Magic Moments Pins still work? My girlfriend gave me some extras she had from her trip and I was planning on taking them, but only if they still work. Thanks

I'd like to know too ... :bounce: Those pins look so cool when they go off!!

Good advice on the batteries, hedgehogcs. They do eat batteries. They take 2, and last time they didn't last a whole week.
