What are direct air flights like?

I have never flown direct air, and to be honest haven't done many short flights within the US before. I am from Toronto and always flown Canadian airlines, but this time we're trying to save some money.

Just wondering what the flights are like. Is there a beverage service? Free or extra charge? Is there a paid or complimentary snack/lunch service? Is there any in flight entertainment (just wondering if I should bring our headphones)?

Anything else we should know about the flights?

Flew with DirectAir last April. It was just fine. No food service, and if I remember correctly, we did get soda. No entertainment..which I do tend to miss. It was fine flying with them. I prefer JetBlue and SW but since DirectAir flies out of a small airport about 20 mins from my home, I use them on occasion...when flying to WDW. It does mean having to rent a car though. But, since parking at larger airports is almost three times more expensive, I figure I can put those savings toward my rental car.

One important thing to know is they do not fly to MCO, they fly to Lakeland or Sanford. So you will not be able to use DME, you will have to have your own airport transporation, which can be expensive.

Another important thing to know is they do not fly daily. So if for some reason you miss your flight, the next one could be days later.

We flew with them into Sanford a couple of years back. It was fine, nothing remarkable about them. It fit the bill and the $ was cheap enough to justify the car service from Sanford. I do love the smallness of Sanford airport but ME is so easy and its free.

So true. This is one reason I won't fly them if there is any chance of weather delays.....Nov-March. If they cancel the flight, who knows when you might get on another plane.

We live in the Falls, so getting to the NF,NY airport is a breeze so I looked into flights with them for our March 2012 trip. The prices were amazing and I did get all excited at saving $$$$!
Only problem with it was, our cruise docks on the Tuesday and the next flight out would be on the Thursday. So once I accounted for hotel/food/entertaining the kids for two extra days...it wasn't such a great deal.
I also did a search, and apparently they will cancel a flight if not full. After all of the planning and expense of this trip, I just don't want to take any chances on not getting to the port on time....so we're going with SW.
If I was flying down to visit family, or on business, or a not so tightly planned vacation I would try them.

I saw a report on the local news about a month ago that they did some last minute cancellations Pittsburgh-Myrtle Beach.

We flew with them for the first time this past July. They had just started service from our area and I was very pleased with them. We have already booked another flight with them for our next trip in January. I really like flying into and out of small airports. We went to the Tampa area in July and flew into the Lakeland-Linder airport. Perfect flights, on time, quick and easy. There was no complimentary beverage or snack service on our flight. They had a small selection of items you could purchase if you wanted. Our flight was only a little over 2 hours, so maybe they offer more on longer flights, I'm not sure.

In January, we will be using them again and flying into Lakeland again. This trip we are going to Universal and Disney, so renting a car from Hertz in Lakeland to use to get to Universal and then over to Disney. We are returning it to the Hertz location in Kissimmee that is near Disney because we don't need it while we are there. Hertz has a shuttle that will take you to your Disney resort during certain hours or you can take a cab. We are then renting a car again for our return to the airport. You can arrange with Hertz to pick you up from your Disney hotel and take you to their Kissimmee location to get your car. We bought our tickets during their 1/2 off sale and it was well worth it for us.

I hope this helps!
