I'm thinking of coming on Thursday, 3/20, for the day.

I know it's Spring Break.

I know the hours are long.

I know the crowds should be high.

I just want someone to confirm that I'm crazy to bring two small kids to DLR for the day! :lmao:

Also, what's the weather like? Is it warm enough to be comfortable after Splash Mtn?

TIA!

I can't speak to the crowds because sadly, I'm not there. But, I am sitting in my office a couple of miles away. It is sunny and clear enough that I can see the Matterhorn, Sun Wheel, etc. It is about 68 degrees out and is expected to get into the low 70's today and through the week.

According to our local weatherman, Garth, on KABC7, today's weather will be almost perfect. :sunny: I think the weather tomorrow will be almost the same. It's nice and warm in the sun, but can be cool in the shade (and we have an expected low of 39 tonite!) And the winds have gone away. Thursday's high is predicated at 69 with patchy fog in the a.m.

As far as the crowds go, yes it may be crowded due to spring break (though not all schools here are on break and I think AZ still is.) However, DD8 and I went to DLR on Sunday, March 9th and even though it was crowded, we had a great time. :goodvibes In fact, we ended up staying 10 hours which is pretty long for us us since we have AP. (We did end up winning a Dream FP!) We got there early (about an hour after opening since that was the start of Daylight Savings and we weren't going to be able to get there by 8 a.m.) We started out at DL, rode alot of rides before 10 a.m. Grabbed a few FP for later (Splash and Buzz) then we crossed over to DCA just after 10 a.m. Rode more rides, grabbed more FP. Had lunch at DTD. Crossed back over to DLR. Rode more rides, used our Dream FP, grabbed more FP. Crossed back over to DCA to ride Grizzly Rapids before dark. Got wet, it felt great! DD8 then played for awhile at Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. Headed home about 7 p.m.

We had a wonderful day. Utilized FP to minimize ride waits. Didn't see any shows or parades.

I would recommend getting there (DL) before park opening. Getting your FP for later. Ride some rides. Cross over to DCA when DL gets crowded. Get FP. Ride rides, cross back over, etc. It worked for us. :goodvibes (on Sunday, mind you and the DL was crowded!) DL opens at 9 so plan on being at the gates about 8:30, or so.

Have fun!

:faint: I would give my eye teeth to be able to see the Matterhorn right now!

Actually I believe it opens at 8 on Thursday.

Thanks for the advice!

I checked the calendar before posting but I read the wrong Thursday. You're right, on the 20th it opens at 8 a.m. Last Thursday it opened at 9 a.m. So....be there about 7:30 if you can.

I don't know about DL, but the San Diego Zoo was the most crowded I have even experienced it today!

It took me 10 minutes to find a parking spot. The line to see the pandas was at least a half an hour long.

The weather was perfect - 70 and sunny, not very windy.

Oh man, talk about a tease! To be able to see the Matterhorn and Sun Wheel and yet be stuck in an office..... That ain't right. :sad2: :rotfl:

But I bet being so close by you get to head over there a lot, so I'm sure it makes up for it. ;)

Sounds like the weather is perfect too! Thanks for the info.

now hand over dem teeth! ;)

The Wild Animal Park was 73 and not very windy. The line to see the butterflies was about 40 minutes long. It was the busiest I've ever seen it.

It was Beautiful at DL today!!! We had to go as it was POTC 41st birthday. We had to sing to them.. Also my DD3 got to go with just mom and grammie and get her 1st ap!

We did 4 rides in about 2 hours. Pirates, Haunted MAnsion, Canoes and Pooh. The had a FP for Buzz. We got there at the parking structure at 9:23( only know as they gave me a pass to give to the front gate.) and left at 3. We also did some shopping. I think the longest line was picking up lunch.

Saturday the 15th was less crowded than today.

We might go back this weekend but we will have to see.
Have a good day!

Beautiful days...yet such chilly nights! :cold:

Don't forget that light jacket for the evening!
