We're newer members and have only stayed at AKV, which we love! but we're thinking for future trips we'd like to try out other resorts, and I'm wondering what kind of things the community hall has for the kids (ours are 8 and 10 right now). I saw someone mention ping pong, fusball and movies..is there anything else? planned activities - and are they free or not? any info. is greatly appreciated!

BWV community hall has crafts the kids can do. Video games, ping pong, air hockey etc. My DH brings the kids down there alot on our "no park days" they spend 2-3 hours there. They have a tv with big chairs (nice for DH- I guess that's why he spends 2-3 hours there). :rotfl:

The CH at SSR seems to be a big draw for 9 year olds also.

It had foosball, ping pong, video games, they are special arts & crafts scheduled, etc. They also rent movies and board games. My kids have rented 2 movies so far.

Well this slightly older 10 yo (ok by a decade or two) rediscovered the love of a Community Hall last April at SSR. I also made a couple of little friends who adopted Grandpa Mohawk and I over a game of giant jenga.

Things we did included: ceramics (there's a fee for the piece you pick to paint, ranges about $10-$30), made beaded keycard holders, played ping pong, PS2, etc. They also have a big screen TV and home theatre setup. In the day you're likely to see the kids channels on but they also stream the big sports games. (Unlike the rooms, the CH gets Fox Sports and other channels for the big games and American Idol.)

There's a schedule included in your Welcome Home booklet with activities, also one at the CH. Usualy the staff is hosting activities all over the complex as they are also in charge of the pools. So you may see them hosting bingo poolside or running the movie night after the lifeguards leave. Or else they do tie dye in the CH or have scavenger contests.

It is a very welcoming place to just wander in and play for a bit. Made a good mid-day retreat for Grandpa Mohawk when he was too hot to stand sitting by the pool. I just wanted to work there. Staff is great and it felt like camp to me.
