What are chances of Carriage ride with no ressie?

Going to be there mid week following Thanksgiving. We are the kind of folks who just "wing it" and don't like to be tied to reservations. It seems we get somewhere that we're enjoying but have to keep looking at our watches because we've got a reservation for someplace else. We're only staying T, W, and Th nights at Fort Wilderness and only going to MK on Wednesday. The two other days are for lounging around campground and maybe going on monorails and walk around some other resorts.
I'd like to do a carriage ride on Tuesday or Thursday evening but this is our first trip to DW and I'm not sure how busy the carriages will be during the week after Thanksgiving. Has anyone ever walked up to a waiting carriage and paid the driver for a ride without a reservation? I suppose if I made a reservation for Thursday evening and Tuesday worked out better for us I could cancel the Thursday ride. (within 24 hrs cancellation)

I think the carriages are available alot of the time. Since its a holiday though that might make it a different story. If you call the manager or his assistant at FT. W or your hotel's conceirge maybe they can give you more info.

T-giving, XMAS and NYE seem to be the busiest times of year.

(One thing you will NOT want to wing would be a dinner reservation for a holiday or weekend night.)

If you are there mid-week AFTER Thanksgiving you should not have a problem at all getting a carriage ride without a reservation. That week after Thanksgiving weekend used to be, and may still be, the absolute least busy time overall at WDW.
