What antivirus program do you use? Where to get it cheap?

I got Norton at Amazon. It was a direct download from Amazon. I don't even think I paid $20 for a year of protection. I also saw the Norton 360 for $44. on there as well.

My computer guy recommended Microsoft Security Essentials. He says they us it on their computers, too.

While AVAST is free, its a bare-bones A/V app...better than nothing. We have Cox and they give McAfee free, I think its an ok option but better than Avast. I persoinally like Trend Micro, it allows be to instll on up to 3 computer for $59 a year and it does more than A/V, it allows me to whitelist sites my kids can go to(which also protects what they see on Google search results). yes, its costly but the parental controls for my kids is worth it.

Totally disagree with use of free antivirus programs. I am a computer security professional, Master's Degree in Information Security. Every friend that brings me a hosed up computer to clean is using AVG or Avast. Pay the $25 for Symantec or Kaspersky. It will cost you more to get your computer cleaned when AVG free fails you.

Ditto -- I feel the same way concerning McAfee (and I am a firm believer in one getting what they paid-for).

If money's an issue, it can usually be found on the cheap at Amazon.com a few months after release.

I have always used Trend Micro. It use to be called PC-Cillin but now I think they just call it Trend Micro Internet Security. I have used it for about 10 years and have never once had a virus. It is neither free nor cheap but you get what you pay for. I think it is around 60 a year or something close.

I had Norton on a laptop and it kept getting viruses. The Norton never stopped the virus from getting on the computer. SO I think Norton sucks.

I would never trust my computer to something that was free and programs like Malware Bytes and Ad Aware and such don't give you real time virus protection.
