We are going to Disney's Boardwalk Inn May 12-18. Give me some great ideas for food. We are on a budget, our 22nd anniversary is on the 16th, we have been to Disney several other times, traveling with 2 teenage girls and want to try some new things.:D

I would recommend Spoodle's, Cape May Buffet, Beaches & Cream, Garden Grill, Crystal Palace, 1900 Park Fare, O'Hana's, Le Cellier, Rose & Crown, Concourse Steakhouse, Tusker House, House of Blues, Cindy's, Liberty Tree Tavern, 50's PrimeTime, & Sci-Fi Theater.

I f your staying at the Boardwalk you should try Spoodles. We have had dinner and breakfast there and they are both great. Spoodles is one of our favorite restaurants at WDW.

When we stayed at BW and got hungry late at night after roaming the parks, we thought the pizza from the pizza place on the Boardwalk was really tasty (and we know pizza- we're from Chicago!!). You could also try Liberty Tree Tavern in MK and the Maya Grill at Coronado Springs (a great restaurant and for some reason really overlooked). Happy eating!!

We love pizza! We are also from Illinois. Monicless, Uno and Del Carmens are the home town favorites! Thanks for the info!

The best steak on property is just a short walk away at Shula's in the Dolphin.

Upon arrival we are going to snack for lunch, dinner is ESPN Club.

Tuesday, breakfast who is up for breakfast, lunch tea at Garden View at Grand Floridian, dinner Ohana.

Wednesday, breakfast who is up for breakfast, lunch Corn dogs from Boardwalk vender, dinner Beaches and Cream.

Thursday, breakfast who is up for breakfast, lunch Wolfgang Puck Express, dinner Boardwalk Pizza.

Friday, breakfast who is up for breakfast, lunch Hurirican Hanna's grill, dinner Spoodles for our anniversay.

Saturday DH has to have breakfast any suggestion on some place good with a lot of food not in a park, Lunch more corn dogs for those of us who are hungry, dinner 50's Prime Time Cafe.

Anyone have anything to say?:D

Two places that come to mind are Cape May, it is a buffet and the Kona at the Polynesian, known for Tonga Toast but the Big Kahuna is a large breakfast. Everyone says they have great coffee, pressed pot, too! Happy Anniversary!

We have done Cape May's clam bake and thought it was wonderful. I was just wondering if these were buffets and/or Character Breakfast?

I second the following:
Spoodles is great with alot of sharing appetizers(bugdet wise)
Kona Cafe is spectacular-especially dessert(we go every trip)
Pizza at take-out at BW(its part of Spoodles is very good)
1900pf breakfast is the best IMHO(great omelettes to order)
Beaches and Cream is the best for burgers and ice cream.

I am not sure what 1900 PF is? Could you fill me in? Buffet? Characters? Location? Price?
Thanks!:D

If you can, bring a cooler full of snacks/food to your room so that you can eat some of your meals in your room. We fill ours with lunchmeat, cheese, fruit, cream cheese, sodas, beer, milk, etc. We also bring bread, bagels, peanut butter, crackers, cereal, etc. Every day, empty out the water (melted ice) and refill with fresh ice. This will save you quite a bit of $$. If you do this, then you can afford to eat one or two meals a day at very nice restaurants.

Remember, children who are >9 years of age are considered "adults" in Disney restaurants, and thus will be charged adult prices.

When we are in the Magic Kingdom, we like to eat at the Crystal Palace. It is a Winnie the Pooh character lunch. They have a big buffet with all kinds of gourmet foods, childrens' foods, desserts, etc. If you eat lunch later in the day, i.e., 2:30 p.m., you can make it your big meal of the day and just snack during the evening.

cape May and 1900Pf are the ones people ahve told me about. We have done crystal palace and are not buying a MK pass so it is out. Chef Mickey we have done twice before and it is great but the kids didn't really want character meals this time so any other ideas?

ESPN Zone was large portions, reasonably priced, no line and good service. The food was good but no more than you would expect (1 barbecue sandwich, 2 wraps and chili).

Boardwalk Pizza was simple, large portions, very reasonably priced, quick service. The food was extremely good for quick service (1 calzone, 1 cheese pizza and 2 salads).

Boardwalk Bakery was easy, large portions, pretty reasonably in price and quick service. The food was tasteful (4 bagels, 12 fruit cups, 2 eclairs, 1 coffee cake, 1 crumb cake, 1 peanut butter and chocolate cake and refillable cups).

Garden View Lounge was very quaint, small portions, expensive and great service! The food was an experience in afternoon tea, different, some very good, some interesting and some not so good (finger sandwiches and onion tart 4 out of 5 were very good and 1 was not so good, scone very good, tart was ok, eclair was delicious, swan was scrumptious, strawberries and cream were unbelievable).

Ohana was noisy but fun, all you can eat and expensive. The food is wonderful (salad, rice with shrimp, stir fry veggies, shrimp won tons, wings, beef kabob, turkey kabob, shrimp kabob, pork kabob and pineapple with caramel sauce is to die for).

Japan's walk up is cheap, quick and very good (Sushi.)

Cape May Cafe is loud, fun, cheerful, expensive and wonderful service. It is also all you can eat (ribs, chicken, fish, mussels, potatoes, corn muffin, mac an cheese, green beans, salads, dessert and the Oreo bon bons are the best things I have ever eaten).

McDonald's is McDonald's except 2x's as expensive. I will say it is one of the only places that you can pay for a drink and refill your cup right before you walk out.

Beaches and Cream is fun fun fun, very 50's decor. average price and very good food for price. This place is so much fun and we really enjoyed ourselves. We had chicken noodle soup, chicken sandwich, 2 chili hot dogs and a kitchen sink. The kitchen sink is the biggest sundae I have ever seen and when they bring it out the turn the lights off and on telling everyone what little piggies you are.

Spoodles is very loud, nicely decorated, average price and good service. The food was also very good (prime rib of pork with Caesar salad, flat bread with spinach and chicken with spinach salad). one small note not a good place to celebrate your anniversary if you are planning on having intimate dinner.

Commissary is yuk, fast food, minimum decor and self service. The food we did not like at all (2 wraps, 1 Cuban sandwich, 1 fish and chips).

Prime Time Cafe is busy, loud, fun, great decor and average price. The food is very good (2 meatloaf, 1 fried chicken, 1 chicken noodle soup, 2 cheese cake and smores that are the best).:D

Are you going to Epcot? I like to eat lunch at one of the World Showcase restaurants particularly since it's less expensive than dinner.

:( We are already back from Disney and the reviews were from me. I agree that the WS has some of the best food and lunch is the way to go. We have also now done walk up at Japan, Mexico, France and America now. They were all very good and even less expensive than the dining rooms at lunch. Of course you aren't being waited on, some are outdoor seating and you don't get the whole foreign land experience.:D
